when starcraft 2 comes out...

okay...just out of curiosity, when and after starcraft 2 coes out, how many of you will give up playing Sins of a Solar Empire/Galciv2 Twilight of the Arnor/Spore so that all you folks can get addicted by Blizzard's new addictive game playing drug.

The way everyone is debating about strategy about Sins, the strategic aspect is feeling to be as complex as starcraft...if only SD and IC will patch the AI to version 1.14/1.15 come end of the year.

Actually I thought I read in one of the previews that they were going to do a Dawn of War-ish style campaign where you could pick what/where to attack and such..But I might just be losing it also

That would cause me to re-evaluate my stance on the game.

SC2 will be a different game. I don't think I can play it competitively. But I will like the replays probably.

I've played the Sc2 beta (blizzcon bitches) and it's so fun, I may very well cut almost all of my sins time out, though this game is so epic itself, it'll be a hard choice.

I'll use time management:

Sins on Monday, Tuesday.
Spore on Wednesday, Thursday.
SC II, having shorter individual games, will only get Friday.

Saturday will be whatever I feel like, Sunday to finish up any saved games that I think I don't want to continue over the coming week.

Organization shall ensure premium amounts of enjoyment.

I'll play both, happily. Although I have to admit... I'm a huge Blizzard fan, have been since Warcraft 1, but... I don't know, what I've seen thus far of SC2 doesn't impress me all that much. Universe At War seems a far more unique RTS of similar gameplay style.

I'm sure I will have stopped playing Sins long before SC2 comes out, SC2 isn't even in beta yet.

For me I doubt I'll be playing Sins much once twilight of the Arnor comes out (yeah I'm waiting for the release version cause I hate betas)

Are you... complaining about SC being the best RTS game ever made godivos? If it wasn't for SC I simply can't imagine where the genre would be right now. If anywhere That said it's a different game, but I'll probably switch over to it rather than keep playing sins like I do.

SC the best RTS game ever made? I just about spit my drink out when I read that.

You may think it's the best and that's totally alright, but I assure you that not everyone feels that way. Once I played Rise of Nations I turned my back on Blizzard and never played another one of their shallow RTS games again. SC helped establish the genre along with Command and Conquer plus Age of Empires, but we would still be where we are today if SC had not been made. Many people make the mistake of forgetting all those other great RTS games that somehow get overshadowed by SC.

Sins will be on my system permanently whilst SC2 will not get a look in from me due to this simple reason: Sins did not instantly appeal to me. Let me explain.

SC2, as has been mentioned, is most likely going to be narcotic in effect and provide a quick fix to that teenager that lives inside every gamer. It will be highly competitive, flashy and just bugged enough at vanilla that buyers will stick with the game for the first three marketing ploys, sorry, patches. It'll be like those curious (to me) people who assert their originality by hanging out in huge groups all dressed identically. SC2 will want to be cool.

Sins, by comparison, is a game that appeals to a much more mature side of my nature. Frustrating sometimes, sure, but in a way that makes me ponder strategies in the shower or when stuck in traffic. The point of Sins for myself is that it is not immediately accessible, but rewards patience with depth and sheer clean fun.

I'm going to completely ignore SCII when it comes out. Not going to buy it, download the demo, visit the website or read the forums. I've never been overly fond of Blizzard games, the art style bugs me and I find their user interface to be poorly laid out and overly large. I also really don't go in for games where the emphasis is on a linear, play-it-once story anymore, and I don't really do multi-player.

The thing that really gets my goat about SCII though is that finally the RTS genre is doing some interesting and positively new things. Games like Sins, Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes and so on are actually inovating and changing the way I play RTS games. The genre has, in other words, finally escaped the shadow of Starcraft. Then SCII is going to drag it right back to ten years ago and sell a bajillion copies despite being basically a retread of ten year old design ideas. It fills me with a terrible fear that it will kill off companies' willingness to actually take chances and make interesting and new games, and instead we'll be buried under a wave of SCII clones.

So yes, in other words, I'll still be playing Sins and GalCiv.

Yeah,i do agree with you to a certain extent.SC2 is just SC1 with better graphics and some new units and abilities.SC2 will not be another game that revolutionise RTS like Dawn of War,Company of Heroes,World in Conflict and Sins.

Im just waiting for my copy of Sins to come.Really want to try something really different from other RTS.

Starcraft 2 looks like crap. It's Starcraft 1.5.

Everything I've seen is either:

1) A copy-paste from the old game.
2) A copy-paste from a different game.
3) A ridiculous gimmick.

Honestly, Reaver Jump Marines? Who saw those and went "WHAT THE FUCK, THEY STOLE RAPTORS FROM DAWN OF WAR!"

How about the droppable supply depot walls? What the crap is THAT all about?

There's nothing about SC2 that excites me in any way. Best case, it's a well-balanced rehash of SC + other popular RTS games.

Uranium - Nearly all hugely-advertised RTS games are the exact same thing - just different graphics and slightly different units.

The main thing I'm interested about is the moddability of it. The in-house physics system will *hopefully* be greatly modable with scripts, and could create some zanny games. With *yet again, hopefully* no memory leaks, you'll see greater performance online.

True. There's so much been done in sci-fi there's not much more to expand on.

Anyways, Blizzard easily is my favourite developer, with Stardock coming in at second. SC was easily my favorite RTS, despite games like C&C and Age of Empires. More than anything I loved the multiplayer portion of it, fast and competitive. To tell the truth I'm only playing Sins still because of the mods. Sins is a little too slow for my taste, but it still works. SC was a fast and furious RTS that managed to have three extremely different races while staying balanced and fun. I'll probably be playing mostly SC2 when it comes out since I'll be more competitive on that than in Sins.

And to whoever it was that said SC was all about rushing and massing units:

Have you ever played an ACTUAL game, against an ACTUAL opponent who wasn't a complete noob? That's the one surefire way to lose. LOL, spamming and rushing's the only strategy? I suggest you actually play a real game before you start talking about it.

Well I will most likely be playing Starcraft 2, if the mininum requirements aren't rough on my comp. I've been waiting to see the next part in the story and to have fun with old friends on the old Battle Net. However, to tell ya the truth I've waited waaaaaaay toooooo loooong for starcraft 2 (Haven't we all?) and its kinda lost its edge for me...

Seems no one here is that interested in Spore which to me seems like the game that will be the next Sim Craze. Here's hoping the game lives up to most expectations. (Both Spore and Starcraft 2)

Sins of a Solar Empire is one of the best strategy games I've played and I'm happy the company has been releasing patches for it and look foward to playing it some more in the summer. Spore will be single player and I'll be playing that when I don't feel like battling against the devious minds of homosapiens. (You know who you are!)

As for Starcraft 2...come on guys Blizz will push that back another year. Its prolly at the earliest coming out between summer and fall of 2009. Same thing happened with Warcraft 3 and WoW.

Seems I've been ranting a bit.....uh yea I'll play Spore and Sins for a long time and when starcraft 2 comes out I'll be playing that for awhile over Sins.

(I need to go to sleep....ugh)

Can't wait for SC2 to come out. I'm not a cheap bastard with no class, whining and complaining about something that has almost no information out on it.

Plan to play Sins too. OMG! Yes, you can have more than one favorite game! it's true!
