Yep. Getting in SciFi weekly is a major thing from what I can tell. It is also a direct conduit to a built-in "qualified" market to say the least.

I really really really really hope that Stardock and Ironclad folks never get corrupted by corporate thinking and style. Bioware, Blizzard and now Epic all went down the tubes because of it. All there is left is PR talk about how they care about customers and quality, but all they really care is profit.

So show them all that making great games instead of great hype is better in long run.

Considering single player works well i can understand the ratings. I hope this will get more people to play this game. The multiplayer aspect of the game needs urgent fixes. Exploits can't wait for a maior patch, and client unstability needs to be addressed some more. I'm saying this because a working multiplayer will keep those new people buying sins playing it, and tell their friends so the online community can grow to a decent size and good games can be played online regularly (maybe even with a ranking system).

"little" developers are usually the best (look at mod teams) because they aren't constrained by shareholders who demand profits so you MUST release a game THIS QUARTER blah blah.

They aren't creatively saddled by some jackass manager who scraps good ideas in favor of rehashing old, used ideas that helped sell previous 9 sequels of an idea nicely.

They aren't really looking to make a bazillion dollars off a product like Halo3, Battlefield9 whatever. They DO love money, and money is part of the reason they make games and sell them, but it isn't (from what I can tell) a deciding factor.

Small dev teams are usually a group of people who have a common idea/goal and they work hard to keep that idea/goal intact throughout the process. Stardock is still a "little" guy in game publishing so I'm going to assume their managers don't interfere too much with IronClad (unlike Activision/EA etc who does their absolute best to interfere with dev teams under them).


Little developers, as I said, like mod teams, are generally the most creative and generally get those creative ideas brought to fruition which gives us killer games like the GalCiv series and now Sins (and I'm already looking forward to Sins expansion but hopefully with a killer single-player campaign to round it out...like Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War's single-player campaign which is cheesy as hell but still probably the best I've ever played in any game except RPG's, and even then, it's better than a lot of RPG's)

Umm... not to ruin your day or anything but Blizzard has released blockbuster after blockbuster for something like 15 years. I have no idea what your statement about Blizzard going down the tubes is based on. Are you telling me that because of something Blizzard did/does you wont be buying SC2 when it comes out? I am pretty sure it will be the #1 game for at least six months after it launches. Citations needed.
