I'm not one for keepin' score of my 'hits'. I know I have quite a few, and that's enough for me. I do remininese the birth and life of the songs that come to me, whether or not they make the charts. I think that as a songwriter/singer, that is one of the best parts. The feeling that accompanied the song as it made it's way into my life and eventualy into the lives of those who were touched somehow by the finished product is magical and real at once. The thoughts range from teardrops to treasury notes. The adventure is as mild as finding a word in a wordsearch puzzle all the way to as wild as finding one last bullett in a well needed pistol. The song that grabs me most and puts a telephone in my hand with the number I've never been able to toss away in the other...is this Cajun hit I wrote in the early eighties...when candidates collided in a little town in Louisiana one October night ...by fate. Little did I know that my words would touch then Mr. Ronald Reagan in the way that they would. It is such a long story to write, how we two, then candidate Reagan, and myself, stayed up all night writing the song, and how he refused to take any credit for his contribution. Only let me say here to you, my colleagues, be open minded and aware of the 'magic' that accompanies your craft. Here then is "I'LL TELL MY MOM ALL ABOUT YOU".
