Motorcycle Insurance

So, you’re looking for motorcycle insurance? Just as you would insure your car, you also need to insure your bike. How should you go about choosing the right company? How fast are they about getting you what you need after an accident? Can they easily be reached? Always look for a company that has been well established and 24 hour claims centers.
The coverage is much the same as for someone who is insuring a car. You have liability, which is usually required. This covers anyone who may be your passenger. The collision pays for all damages caused by someone else to your bike, minus the deductible. This only covers the factory parts on the bike, not any accessories you may have added. In that case, more coverage is needed. Comprehensive covers things like vandalism, theft or fire. Uninsured motorist covers you if someone with no insurance hits your bike. This will pay your medical and any wages lost while you and your bike are out of commission. Underinsured motorist covers you if the other person involved in the accident doesn’t carry enough insurance.
Some companies offer discounted insurance. For example, if you have a clean driving record, have your car also insured with the same company, are a member of a motorcycle organization, or have graduated from a motorcycle riding course. These can sometimes save you up to 15%. Ask your agent.
