Texas Wahine

That point whore!

Well one of our most recent users on here is sucessfully making their way up the rankings. This person happens to be Ms. Texas Wahine. While making her way up the line of ranks, she has become one of the biggest point whores of all time here on JU along side Mr. Capt. Cornbread. She is already ranked #20 causing the Capt. to lose his #20 spot and drop down to #21. When will she ever stop? No one knows! This is mad and out of control!! Someone please stop her!!

I mean, I think I should get some of her points thrown onto my points just because I love this girl so much, and I know she definately loves me too! Right.....yea that's what I thought! I'm currently ranked #37 and I would like some points here. lol. My all time goal is to beat Capt. Cornbread in point rank. Now's my chance too. He hasn't been on to JU for quite sometime due to school. So if you guys would be so nice as to lend me some points! lol. Since Texas is my idol, I too need to become an ultimate point whore! So now I have two goals. But first I need to figure out how to rank up those whore points. Maybe you could give me tips Texas, eh? You'd better or I'll hunt you down and poke you to death!! Mwahahaha! Ok, I just totally freaked myself out. But anyways that's not the point........Texas, your points are now for randsom! I have stolen them, now you must pay me 1000 chickens to get them back!! Or you could just find them!

Ok, sorry. this was my moment to actually write an article that has nothing to do with being depressed, so I took the opertunity. You know I'm messing with ya Texas! *hugs*

he he he . . . I have a blog named after me! All right, carebear, I will share with you a few of the secrets to my successful points whorery.

First, you must have NO LIFE . . . no life, whatsoever. Points whorery of my level requires many, many hours be spent on JU throughout the day. You will need to quit school, quit spending time with your family and friends, and you may have to quit eating as well. We're talking major hours here . . . my great advantage above most every other JUer is the fact that I have no life and have very little else I have to during the day (or night).

Second, you must be incredibly prolific. You must write at least 2 blogs per day. They need not be good . . . in fact, you will often get many more points on a complete piece of crap than on something heart-felt and time consuming to write. Even if no one particularly likes your writing, the sheer volume of it will flip a switch in their heads and make them think, "hey . . . I see this person's name a lot . . . they must be good . . . I'll leave a comment." This is very important.

Third, follow what I like to call the "rule of 69" . . . you comment on me, I comment on you . . . mutual commenting becomes established with many other bloggers, and you are well on your way to becoming a supremo points whore. Some people are selfish and will receive but not give, thus turning the "69" into another beast entirely. Don't give up on them, but don't waste too much time giving them "favors" when you could be spending that time commenting on someone who is willing to give a little love back to you.

Finally, the Ashleython that Gideon has proposed can be quite helpful . . . because I love ya so much, I am willing to help be a fundraiser for the Ashleython . . . although you should know that I am not, in fact, the biggest points whore here . . . *cough* I think we all know who that is!

One other thing, carebear--your blog site is currently #78 -- we want to get that in the top 20, preferably the top 10. Your points will go up quickly once your blog climbs. It's easier to get your blog "up there" than to get up there as a user. First, try to put up some good general interest articles that will get a lot of viewers. You want referrals...they help a LOT. Second, threaten your school friends with bodily harm if they don't visit your blog daily and comment on each and every article (just kidding, folks)...but seriously, enlist their help. They seem like a good bunch and should be more than willing. Third, get Muggaz in here. By adding him, you will have not one, but THREE highly successful point whores assisting you.

Those are some excellent suggestions, Gideon . . . and I would like to take this time to bitch about something that bothers me . . . although this is off-topic, I feel that it is in the best interests of the Ashleython for us to carry on various conversations on her blog, so here goes . . .

Last night I submitted an "article" with a photo of John Kerry and one line of text. I got double digit responses on it. I also submitted a 9/11 article last night. I spent over an hour thinking about it and then actually writing it. It was incredibly emotional to write, and I put a great deal of thought into it because I had so much I wanted to express. I wasn't overly pleased with the end result as I felt I did not say all that I wanted and did say some things that maybe I hadn't intended. Nevertheless, it was an article that came from my heart. I got one response. One. It was very disheartening to know that only one person felt that my sentiments were worthy of comment.

This concludes my Wahine pity party. I will now return you to your regularly scheduled Ashleython.

Well, my 9/11 tribute got very little response. My posting of a webcam of a light bulb in California that has been burning since 1901 ranked higher. That's just the way it goes sometimes. Incidentally, I'm posting the Green Party platform right now (I disagree with just about every major point of their platform, but nobody else will do it and I feel a responsibility to inform), and those articles draw less viewers than most of the Libertarian party blogs (maybe the fact that I believe in the LP made a difference in that one).

I notice that as well . . . I also I have to tell you why I didn't comment on your 9/11 song article . . . I didn't want to stink it up . . . that song for me is permanently tied to a Saturday Night Live cartoon featuring the "ambiguously gay duo" . . . they do interpretive dance to that song . . . I can't be serious about it . . . why have I started using ellipses (sp?) all the freaking time? . . . is that annoying? Anyways, I tried to avoid that thread for fear that I would say something about Ace & Gary, although I did think it was a very beautiful way to remember the brave police officers and fire fighters and other workers who were lost that day as well as those who survived but were changed and broken by what they experienced. I have something else I want to say, but I will say it in another comment so as to create more points for Ashley.

I have also noticed that stuff I put loads of effort into generally goes by ignored, and then things I really don't think to be significant go really well, surprising really. I think people think I am slightly points whorish considering the number of articles I produce *sigh*. I am also guilty of not commenting on other peoples blogs. Some I do, but some people intimidate me slightly, and I read their stuff but feel to stupid to leave a comment. Mentioning no names (Gid) *cough*

how the hell did i miss that?  i didnt realize they had webcams that long ago (does it have a curtain in the back?  did the operator have to hold up a tray of flash powder while it was in use?)

No problem. I was very impressed with the way you stated your position, and I think it was good for us to get the perspective of someone who is outside of the whole mess. As you might have noticed, lots and lots of people share your view. It was so admirable of you to stick your neck out there and post it.

Which brings me to a key point of successful point whorage, carebear. When an article sinks, cross promote it to death on other people's blogs. It took me awhile to learn this, but I eventually realized as a top ten blogger I have a responsibility to "represent".

Another way to point whore is to bring it back up again under a different title. I haven't done this yet, but have at least one fun one in store for you folks, so watch my blog site closely. As in every day. As in multiple times every day. Hell, make it your homepage.

(see how shameless I can be? lol)
