Trashy tv!

Oh how we love to hate it!

So I've mentioned over the last few blogs. I'm having huge problems sleeping, because of the weather! I'm going to sleep late, and waking up early, so how to fill these twilight hours. Oh what to do with myself? Well last night I enjoyed a trashy tv night. I am ashamed to admit I did actually enjoy it too. I started off slowly with a trip into the world of Justin Timberlake (god bless MTV) I watched where he shopped, where he lived, how much money he earned, a comparison of all the girls he'd dated. Oh what fun! I'm not a huge fan of JT, I mean he's a nice looking young man, there is no denying that, he's just a bit.....boyish for my liking. Good eye candy though

. I like these programmes where you can just turn your brain off and kind of take a trip to no thinking land, and this is why I like these programmes. There was parts of the JT programme I did want to slap him, but apart from that it was a nice insight into his fabulous life. Maybe I'm just nosey, who knows. I then moved on to watching videos being made. I watched Christina Aguilera make some music videos. I know by that point my standards were slipping slightly. It was kind of fun seeing her surrounded by moths though. Also listening to her talk about her artistic talents was fun. An art to take you clothes off, very impressive! The most fun was watching the "Dirty" video being made. That lady just has no boundaries. Not saying that's a bad thing, but she just has no limits. I guess for her that is what sells. It just made me wonder if she should have some, because of the teenage market she appeals too. Anyway to much thinking, trashy tv night is for no thinking at all!

Which brings me on to the King of trash, Sir Jerry Springer himself! Hehe, I was flicking the television late on last night, and stumbled upon Jerry classics! This is when I realised my night of trash was only just begginning! This was one of the shows Jerry does best, about cheating partners. On this show there was a lady who was having a baby by a man she had cheated with. She wasn't in love with him and was telling her boyfriend that she was pregnant by someone else but wanted to stay with him. She told him, and after he flexed his manly muscles slightly, he said he would stay with her, and in typical Jerry style, then proposed to her, with the audience booing in the background. Then the twist, the boyfriends brother came on, and said this woman was to much of a disgrace to take their family name. Then all hell broke loose.....as usual! Fun to watch though. These people making fools of themselves on tv. I guess 15 minutes of fame must be worth that. It's the sarcastic comments that Jerry makes that makes me laugh most. You see them fly completely over his guests heads. I'm right in thinking Jerry Springer is a comedy show, right?

Then this morning I woke up to my final bit of trash TV. I think I've had my fill for a while now. I woke up to the great Sally Jesse Raphael. About a show who's womens husbands treat them as slaves. To be fair this was a serious issue. Though it looked more like a man beating exercise. These women came on, cried at how their men didn't let them do anything, wouldn't let them go out, and they cooked and cleaned after them. They thought women should stay in the house and look after them. Then these big pig like men came on. Looking all smug, said this was correct. Then Sally verbally raped them for a while. The audience booed them (oh how we love that audience) and they had a therapist on, who magically changed them within seconds, and everyone went home happy. If only we all lived a tv show life huh!

Now as I said I like these programmes. They are just light entertainment in my opinion, they are fun if you don't think too much about them. It's when you start to look at the serious issues they cover, and how they make them look stupid that it annoys me. I think they are taken as light entertainment in the most part though. For people to want to go on tv in the first place and share thse things, there has to be something up with them in my opinion. So to end this final thought, I will say those magic words....

Right now it's 9:30pm - and Law & Order SVU is on --- I watched the AB Fab final tonight -- it was the christmas one where Patsy goes to hospital and she when she gets out she eats!!! - it was weird -- I love Ab Fab -- Kath & Kim is back next week

God I hate Sally jesse, I really hate that woman..and her big red glasses. *shudder. She's so creepy!! She's really mean too, and patronzing and bossy..uh uh- you've set me off on a SJR rant- never good!!

I usually really really hate trash tv- I'm always bitching about how terrible American television is (I noticed all the trashy shows you mentioned are American!!

) but I kinda miss it now. All I have here is CNN!!

I'm lucky I never have a real problem sleeping in the heat- i think growing up in such a hot place I'm used to it!! You could try taking a cold (and I mean cold) shower before you go to bed to cool you down for a while a least...

Ab Fab rocks, Patsy is hilarious. I saw Kath and Kim advertised, I'm going to make a special effort to watch it.
