I would add that I consider myself on friendly terms with 99% of the people I "discuss" things with here at JU. I have been friends with people in real life that have been so mad at me that I really thought they could kill me... and vice versa... and all over stupid junk like we discuss here at JU. Then, five minutes later, we go out and get something to eat.

Grownups can do that. Grownups can call each other an idiot and let each other know their opinions are full of crap and then laugh it off. Some socially challenged folks here seem to be unable to. Sad, in a way. I figure Dave is the kind of guy that rants a lot in traffic and will someday pop a brain vein while chewing someone out. Just an opinion, but I haven't met many people online with the ability to harbor so much angst for so long.

Go masturbate, Dave, or drink something sugary, or do some push ups... it will make you feel better.

Just for the record, I learnt last week that I put waaaay to much emotion into this.  I'm done doing that.  I just don't like being told that I'm slandering someone when I'm not.

David,

First off, you got temporarily banned because you kept personally attacking me in the forums. I emailed you once a warning (which I never received a response) and then the second time I turned on a flag that made it so that you could only post on your own blog. To which you promptly logged on as an anonymous user and began attacking me that way.

It had nothing to do with your political views (other than your political debates getting nasty to the point where you were flaming me from thread to thread). 

I should point out that people who have very differnet poltical views than I do are doing quite well. Stevenedalous was one of the first people to get promoted for instance.  It's not political views that affect your position, it's your treatment of others.  And of course, antagonizing the site admins or owners is probably not a good path either no matter how justified you think you are.

I think one of the weird things about blog sites is a lot of the people would be very good friends if they met in real life but get way too testy about stuff online.  It is just too easy to take something the wrong way based on how you percieve someone.  Too many people can't judge a blog on its own merits.  I have struggled with this in the past but think I am getting pretty good at it. 


I have a lot of respect for people who can debate and not get personal about it.  Personally, I could discuss politics, be called ignorant by a blogger, then go on to enjoy a blog of their's in some other category.  It just doesn't/shouldn't matter.  If someone comes on my blog and causes me stress, however, I will blacklist them in a heartbeat.  I enjoy the JU experience and plan to continue to.

It's amazing how different people's views of a situation can be, and it's also amazing how people can be drawn in by what some say, and then find out the truth later, only to see how much the original person/people lied. If that's how people get off in life, then fine. But to attack people for no other reason than they have more power than you, or more points, or get more comments, then that is ridicuous to the point of insanity.

If you know you are right in what you say, then I am behind you all the way when you stand strong in your convictions. But when you know you are WRONG in what you say, but are too proud to let it go, and feel the need to continue attacking people, that is the time to give up.

WALK AWAY!

I have struggled with this in the past but think I am getting pretty good at it.


I am as well...I've stopped taking things personally and disregard people who irk me just for the sake of irking me.  I'm not going to be able to please everyone, and not everyone is going to like me or what I have to say.  That's life.

this from someone who has started numerous threads about your dislike of certain JU bloggers elsewhere, bitching about how the admins here dont recognize your "brilliance" as well as several right here on Ju as well.


Users on my forums have produced this kind of material, but I am not in the business of censoring people just because I may not whole heartedly agree with them. That is not what we do in Britain, us "limeys" as you like to call us, have much honour. I do not consider saying negative things about certain users here a criticism of the system, it is a comment on the blogger and their blog not the actual site. If I was so anti-JoeUser then I would not post here anymore would I?

I did not start those threads, I suggest you check who were the actual authors of the threads.

I will also say that I had to DELETE some of the comments you made there as 'Guest' which were deliberately made to inflame this difficult situation, which I have always resolved to bring to an end swiftly for the sanity of all concerned.

I left the thread you started there as the guest "JoeLoser" as an example of your crude attempt to entrap me into anti-JU tirade.
