sick !

i, gentle reader, have laryngitis.

i cannot speak !.

i have not been able to utter a single word in almost 35 hours !.

the only person happy about this is my husband. he is filling the void of my banter with annoying ease by making jokes about "how quiet it is in here".

my mother is also here. i took her "shopping" today.

she got lost and i was forced to attract her attention by clapping and waving my arms in a manner that made all the other shoppers assume that i was mentally-challenged.

despite attempted backgroundish-skulking on my part, every sales clerk in every store we entered screeched "how are you today ?" at about 150 decibels at me.

i was forced to only smile mutely in reply.

they all hated that.

some of them even repeated the question !.

my mother, leaping to my defense, succeeded only in compounding the problem by informing one particularly inquisitive sales assistant that "my daughter can't speak".

brilliant.

(that made the snotty sales cow look right at me. and you can imagine the face i was making at my mother for saying something like that. i must have looked deranged. she backed off as if i was on fire !).

needless to say, unless i succeed in squeaking out a few sentences soon, i fear the build up of pressure may cause my head to explode. so, if nobody hears from me for a day or two, think of me with pity.

my last words weren't words at all. prosperity will have had to settle for a round of applause and a squeak.

Poor you! If you are as much of a communicator in real life as you are on here, I can only imagine your pain! If i couldn't talk I'd be sent to the looney bin!

P.S. I have some friends from Oz staying with me and we happened to talk about the BIG THINGS in Oz and they loved the giganitic boob comment. Kudos to you, my dear!

Remember, organs also require vacations. Just because the "boss" doesn't like it doesn't make it any less necessary.

it could have easily been much worse (and considerably more amusing in a cheapshot kinda way) if your mother had very earnestly announced you werent deaf...only dumb. 


hope ya get over it soon.  whenever i lose my voice i  truly regret not completing ventriloquism lessons.

it's not serious. well, not serious in the way that the only thing likely to happen to me is i may spontaneously combust from frustration.
