"OfficeOps What's Update 7/28
"Hotter than July" doesn't mean so much this year. But if you take grey
skies over heat strokes, things are positively looking good. But you
sun bunnies and self-perspirers got a good chance at joining all the
happy people for some group-effort HOTNESS at ROCK N ROLLERSKATE on
friday. Last month flavorpill http://www.flavorpill.net said it was as
effeminate and colorful a night as it gets. Yes. In other news,
electronic performances, 5+ projectors, zen balls, and a theremin take
over the space for DreemyKreem's latest effort, MENDING NEAR THE POLE

19th century "doctor" who lived down the street and claimed to have
discovered the North and South Poles.

MENDING NEAR THE POLE
a night of electronic noise and hallucinatory visual projections
thurs july 29
7-11pm
$5
with
THE PRINCE OF LIARS TRUSTEES:
Khristian Weeks | The Pwca
Visual Projection Experiments: Cathleen Grado
This night will start with an ensemble that updates the Dadaist
Cabaret Voltaire and continues with a series of live electronic noise
performances accompanied by the projection art of Cathleen Grado. The
title refers to a photograph taken by the late Dr.Frederick A. Cook who
claimed to have discovered the North Pole.
Dr. Cook, whose old mansion is located in Bushwick near the location
of Office Ops, was later in life arrested for stock fraud and nicknamed
"The Prince of Liars." His many assertions pertaining to discoveries
of both the Arctic and Antarctic regions are still hotly contested to
this day.
The visual projection will be done in layers working with different
medias to inundate the space with transparencies in conjunction with
the waning and escalation of sound.
Musical Director, Robert Hardin(aka the Pwca) and Cathleen Grado
organized the Creamery; two nights of experimental film and video
accompanied by modular, electronic soundtracks at the Subtonic Lounge
in Tonic. Musical compositions and conceptual input was also given by
Khristian Weeks.

OUTFOXED: RUPERT MURDOCH'S WAR ON JOURNALISM
Naked Cinema. a series of rooftop screenings and lectures
thurs aug 5
8pm, films starts at sunset
free
brought to you by THE ARCHIVE , a neighborhood film community cafe
http://www.videosandcoffee.com
Following the screening their will be a discussion/after-party at the
Archive , located two blocks away at 49 Bogart St. They have air
conditioning.
OUTFOXED examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News,
have been running a "race to the bottom" in television news. This film
provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging
corporations taking control of the public's right to know.
The film explores Murdoch's burgeoning kingdom and the impact on
society when a broad swath of media is controlled by one person.
Media experts, including Walter Cronkite, Al Franken, Jeff Cohen (FAIR)
Bob McChesney (Free Press), Chellie Pingree (Common Cause), Jeff
Chester (Center for Digital Democracy) and David Brock (Media Matters)
provide context and guidance for the story of Fox News and its effect
on society.
This documentary also reveals the secrets of Former Fox news producers,
reporters, bookers and writers who expose what it's like to work for
Fox News. These former Fox employees talk about how they were forced to
push a "right-wing" point of view or risk their jobs. Some have even
chosen to remain anonymous in order to protect their current
livelihoods. As one employee said "There's no sense of integrity as far
as having a line that can't be crossed."
Director/Producer Robert Greenwald has produced and/or directed 53
television movies, miniseries and features. He is the director of
Uncovered and the Unprecedented ,Uncovered and the soon to be released
Unonstitutional .

our energy centers in order to achieve our sense of self as an
integrated being of body, mind and spirit!
In addition to the group classes, private sessions are available. These
sessions include movement and/or massage, depending upon the
individual’s needs.
This particular body/mind work is dynamic, fun, self-developmental,
transformative and effective.
