ALRIGHTY!! I thought this was an interesting way to tell you all about my first summer job!
6:45 AM- flop out of bed, trip over cat and silence the enemy of my peaceful slumber... the alarm clock.
7:00 AM- after falling back asleep, i wake up and run into the bathroom to activate my hair busting sidekick, the curling iron, and find something decent to wear for the day... Thus begins the wonderful preparation for work.
7:45 AM- push mom out the door of the house, turn on the car for her while shes stumbling down the steps, and hop in the passenger seat to leave for Kent... the place of Factory Motor Parts, my workplace, which is a lovely 28 miles away!!!
8:30 AM- stop at safeway for... stuff? lunch... all that good stuff... actually, today we had to listen to monotoned 14 year old boys yell at customers as they were leaving about donating for a cure to prostate cancer... i gave them $0.57 to shut them up for the 15 seconds it took to get out of the store..hehe!
8:45 AM- get to work, slam on some steel toed boots, and begin work 15 mins early to help pick parts for the first shipment of the day.
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM - Pick parts for the ware house for shipments... this means i get to walk around on concrete (in steel toed boots) and put orders from dealerships on a cart, then to a designated spot, and later help with packing up the deliveries for shipment.
11:00 AM- 10 minute break time!!! YEAH!! this is a good moment of the day! I go into the office part of the building (where the initial orders take place) and hang with my mom for about 10 minutes.
11:10- 1:30- More parts being picked. At about this time, i feel like im trapped inside a really bad version of Super Market sweep... The carts we use look like big shopping carts... only more industrialized.. but still! by this time, my feet are starting to hurt again.. oh joy. only 4 1/2 more hours!
1:30 PM- woohoo! lunch time! im not only excited for this break because of the fact that i can eat something to quiet my stomach, but i get to sit down! for a whole HoUr!!!!!! oh man... that is GOLDEN.
2:30-4:30 PM- more parts picking! lah dee dah....
4:30PM- my *SUPPOSED* break time again, but hey, who needs a break when TINA CAN HAVE ANOTHER FOR YA!! grrr... Tina , my supervisor, who also kinda has the same job as i do, sits back and eats popcorn while i bust my ass through my break time, while orders pile up. Really nice i tell ya. The huge Trailer Hitch boxes at the back of the B02 section are starting to look like a nice spot to make a cardboard fort to take my break in , but NO! Grrr.. Anyway, by this time, my insoles arent doing their jobs, and im hurtin.
4:30-5:30pm- waddling around from bad insoles, ,still! Tina is probably off her butt by now, and "helping out" with orders.
5:30-6:00 PM- Time to check over orders again, label every Tote, box, battery, etc. thats to be put on the delivery truck. The entire time, im watching the clock....... 5:55.....5:56.....5:57.........5:58.......5:59.......6:00!!!!! PUNCH OUT TIME!! wholy hell and a half.. ive made it through 8 hours at this place. *sigh*
6:00pm-6:45ish- the loooong drive home... if were lucky, ,no stand still traffic! its like gambling.....hehe
6:45 ish pm- arrive home where i awoke ONLY 12 hours ago, and get started on chores... i cant help but complain when theyre all physical labor chores.. lol! i mean i lift like 70 pound boxes of windshield wiper fluid onto carts throughout the day, and thats tough! along with just walking all day all over that warehouse (HUGE!!)... anyway... yeah.
8:00 PM i get to sit down,finally!! dinner time! dont care what it is, dont care if its hot.... i just needs to be in my stomach within 15 minutes.
8:45 pm - shower! by about that time, im totally filthy- warehouses are frickin gross, man!
9:00pm- down time! if im allowed to, i hop on the net for a few minutes, or watch the tube for 30-60 minutes.
10 pm- im out like a light.... except when i stay up an extra 10 minutes to write a blog.. hehe! its actually 10:03 at the moment... lol!
thats my day.... monday thru friday, now until the end of summer...... What are your days like??
