The cd and LAN

Hello all, I am intending to purchase 2 copy's of Sins, one copy going to a friend of mine.

However, is the cd a dvd? because he does not have a dvd drive, in which case, would it work out legally, if I brought my computer over to his house, installed the copy intended for him (or rather simply went as far as it took to register his) and then while he is downloading the game, install the other copy into my own computer.

Would that work out? leggally and all?

Also, I heard that with the purchase of a single sins game, you can legally LAN it to one other computer in the house, so how would that work?

its a DVD, and one copy of Sins allows 2 installs on 2 different PC's and play on LAN,
BUT only one of those machines can play online.

Ah, so you mean, when installed once, it removes the multiplayer ability for the second install?

ICO accounts use your serial, so you can only log on once at a time per copy. LAN games will allow two copies of the same serial in a game, however.

If your friend is not a roommate then he should have his own copy. If he can't use a DVD but has decent internet, he can simply register his serial in Stardock Central and download the game.

Ah, so there is a serial that comes with the game that he can register and simply download the game online then? that solves that I suppose, thanks .

When I read this, I just had to comment on how awesome this is. Thank you Stardock.

I have three pc's, One business only, my primary gaming machine and a secondary for
occasional LAN games with a friend of mine. I have always found it unreasonable to have to buy two copies of a game just to play a LAN game once in a blue-moon.

I'm very appreciative of a company that still believes in taking care of it's customers. Now if we could just get other companies to follow suit.
