I Promise I'm Not Dieting! I Ate a Cheeseball

Loca responded to my blog about cheesy songs and she mentioned a cheese form I haven't thought of in a long timeLink--the party cheese ball.

My mom has the best recipe for cheeseballs ever. I think it's from the Best of Bridge cookbook but I'm not sure. Mom's cheeseball is home made and covered in crushed walnuts. It is cheesy, creamy, spicy and spreadable on a cracker. I fell in cheesy love at first bite.

When I moved to Vancouver to go to university I would get a craving for some comfort food. I think I lived on mashed potatoes and green peas from the uni cafeteria for a period of a few weeks because my roomies had used every dish in the house and I had nothing to cook or eat with. I was also frustrated because I hated doing dishes. The good thing about the mashed potatoes is that they cost fifty cents-- less than a bag of chips! Anyway one day the magic fairy came and did dishes and my room-mates left for the weekend. I went to the grocery store to get my own food and decided to get decadent and celebrate with a cheesball. A cheeseball I wouldn't have to share with anyone.
Somehow, the cheeseball became a treat among some strange eating habits.

Fast forward to a year later. It was a winter day and I had to go to the bank. The line for the cashier was super long but I had to cash a cheque. Finally my turn came to talk to the teller. I was strangely hot. I asked her if it was hot in the room and I remember her saying, "Actually..." before I passed out and slid to the floor. I remember waking up in a forest of legs and looking up at a whole bunch of people looking down on me. Lovely. How embarrassing. Then it got worse. I heard sirens and the fire and ambulance arrived. I guess mild panic had ensued and someone called 9-1-1. I wished I could melt into the floor. I also remember checking to see if I was still holding my check.

The firemen left right away seeing that there was no emergency. I tried to convince the paramedics that I was fine since I felt more embarrassed than anything else. I told them I was fine. When I mentioned that it was weird because I had never fainted (a la regency or victorian lady) before he got a smug smile and said that I probably hadn't eaten enough. That really puzzled me as I ate a lot and told him so. He just smiled wider and asked what I had for breakfast.

My litany was long--cereal, banana, some leftovers and a whole cheeseball with crackers.

He thought for a moment, his face turning serious. "I guess you did have a big breakfast," he admitted.

How funny! I haven't had one of those cheeseball's in forever. Maybe I'll bring one for Easter dinner.

I dont' think I've ever eaten this at all! And I love cheese! Then again, I just might have tried one because my kids like to try anything they get a fancy to and I remember buying something at the supermarket that was a cheeseball with nuts on it!

Funny story though!lol!
