Like others that have been expressing their dislike in total extermination of a planet, I too feel a bit uncomfortable with that. But hey, this is just a game, so how about try to come up with useful ways to add more flavor and depth into everyone's favorite game?
Here are my ideas on the matter:
1) Plain old Bombardment
- Faster method.
- Planet needs to be recolonized (faster pop growth for Vasari) and upgraded.
- Cultural impact: same as usual for a newly colonized planet.
- Diplomacy impact on AI: affected race would dislike you more.
- Automatic bounty on your head and for each time a planet is exterminated.
2) Invasion
- Would take longer than Bombardment.
- Requires X amount of resources (slightly less for TEC) and a special fleet ability.
- Planetary health starts at 30%, population at 30%; planet needs to be upgraded again.
- Cultural impact: slower culture increase rate (starting from 35%)
- Diplomacy impact on AI: affected race would dislike you less.
3) Subversion
- Would take longer than Invasion.
- Requires a greater amount of resources (slightly less for Advent) and a special fleet ability.
- Planetary health starts at 50%, population at 50%; planet needs to be upgraded again.
- Cultural impact: slightly faster culture increase rate (starting from 45%).
- Diplomacy impact on AI: affected race would dislike you less.
