In 'Star Wars: Empire at war'I was experimenting a bit and found that, coupled with the hero in an X-wing and his ability that instantly blew up a hard point/small ship through shields, an enormous spam of X wings with as many squads as I could make would inevitably swarm star destroyers and completely demolish them within a few seconds. (even if they had shields up, it still wouldnt take long) and the same applies for space stations   

My question is this: Is it feasible to just build hundreds of fighters (or if they are in carriers, the carriers themselves) and swamp the opposition?

Another is this: Do anti-fighter frigates (like a flak frigate) do area of effect damage? as in could their shots hit a small area's worth of fighters?
