SDC "Non elevation" issues

Since the most recent update to SDC, which causes it to no longer prompt for UAC elevation, the program cannot install any programs.

Obviously you can right-click it and choose to Run As Admin, but why the change? Seems pretty pointless to get rid of the prompt since it can't do anything without running elevated.

There was one build which lacked the manifest to force elevation.

You will need to manually run SDC as admin which will allow it to update itself to the current version of SDC.  Without that it cannot update itself.

It's not working. Even run as Admin SDC doesn't find an update for itself. I've refreshed the servers and the XML data. Version I have is 2.51.513 build: 163.

Any other ideas, short of uninstall/reinstall SDC manually from the SD download page?

1/29/08 and still no updates to SDC to fix this issue. Am I missing something? Is there a fix coming out?

2.51.513, build 164 seems to be working though.

That's cool and all, but I can't get build 164 to even be detected as a viable update by SDC. Even if I run it elevated it never finds an update for itself. That's why I'm like... what gives?

It could be your system but it's good that you reported it.  I was updated automatically as expected.
Why not just download and install 164 on top of 163 via the Stardock SDC download page?  That would fix your elevation issue (if not expalin why SDC didn't detect adn install teh update).

OK, that worked. The weird thing is that I simply "ran" the install off the download site instead of saving it first. (No big deal here.) The install went fine. Restarted the OS and then I found 2 files in the Recycle Bin on restart.

A file for BaseVista32 and a zip of sdcentral1.

Rather surprising kind of thing.... so I have to ask. What kind of wacky install shield process does thing thing have? I dunno, maybe it's me, but I've found some "very" peculiar "ways" that SD programs or procedures follow. What up wit dat? It's out of the "norm" is what I mean.

What up wit dat? It's out of the "norm" is what I mean.
The owner and CEO goes by either "Frogboy" or "Draginol".  I'd expect "out of the norm" more often than not.
