Sounds new to a layman but to trend freaks it means a lot. These are the terminologies in the new dental trend called
Tooth jewellery. Are you caught unawares well you don’t have to, as this trend is simple to do and effective too.
Just as how we wear jewellery on other parts of our body we can do the same on our teeth too. But this jewellery is not worn by drilling holes or anything of that sort instead it is cemented on to the tooth this why the jewellery applied on the tooth in dental terms are called as appliqué. It can be put on a line of teeth or one.
First the respective tooth- the one that is preferred, healthy and beautiful; is etched using reagents called etchents. Etching the tooth is the first and preparatory step in appling jewellery. Etching is the method and means which facilitattes th application of etching agent on a tooth for bonding, laminating etc. Here it is done to bond the jewellery.
The tooth chosen or specifically the tooth surface chosen need not be natural it can be a dentally fabricated one. If that is so then the material can fall under any of the following- enamel, procelain teeth (such as verneers and crown) and metal.
Depending on this the etchent used also changes, which means it needs an experts help. After this the teeth is rinsed, cured and dried. Then cementing adhesive is applied and jewel is bonded on the tooth, following this the jewel is polished. With the help of an expert with the proper know hows and the tools for it, tooth jewellery are easy going and trendy too.
