I was a Citizen, and I believe I was working on my 2nd DX theme, Clear Agenda. At the time I kinda thought that themes would be my thing, seeing as how the first one did better than I could've imagined. Figured I'd just keep turning them out. I remember seeing alot of Vista-esque themes in the gallery at the time which did phenomenally well, and kinda thought maybe that's what I should be doing, too. It made me take a step back and look at what I was doing with my theme. It was very, very, simple; more conceptual than anything else, and nowhere near the complete package it should have been. It wound up with a 6 but I still got some very cherished comments on it from people who I didn't realize were some of the great artists on this site. At any rate, I was left with a dissatisfied feeling; like I could've done more or that I hadn't quite found my niche/groove in this big, crazy world of skinning. From the end of the year to the start of the next I discovered 2 things about myself: I loved coding and building widgets more than making themes, which are more graphics-centric, & I loved helping other people use DX. Low and behold my next new work, the DX Script Helper, embodied both of those aspects. It may not be as popular, or get as many dls as my themes get but it remains my proudest work, because it represents what I'm about. Been doing related things ever since, trying to stay original, and challenge myself to give each and every creation everything I've got.
What a difference a year makes.
