Gaming Laptop

I know the title is very much an oxymoron, how can one have a true gaming rig in something small and portable... Just boggles the mind, however with my new recent employment portable is the only way to go. And I figure if I am going to be mainstaying to a laptop for the next twenty years I might as well start it off with a bang.

So my question to all you enlightened ones in the fields of computer technology which company, route, or avenue I should pursue for that damn fine but afordable gaming laptop.

So far I have kitted myself a basic but nice and afordable Alienware laptop with the following specs:

Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Dual 512MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX - SLI Enabled
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 2.0GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB

Good or Bad? Or is their a better provider out their for what I want?

Oh and most important will I be able to rock SOASE?

Good rig. The only "issue" I see is that you went with a 7950 -- IIRC, there is a 8800GTX mobile version of some kind due out soon, you may want to wait for that. Otherwise, thats a GOOD system.

Don't waste money on Alienware.

Sager Notebook is the way to go.

Well...

If I wante to buy a Gaming Laptop and had the Cash I would buy a AlienWare Machine, just because it looks bloody nice.

Other than that, The Asus Gaming Lamborghini Laptop. The vid card sucks though

Alienware = Dell, Dell = garbage, thus Alienware = garbage. They overprice like mad, and don't offer much for it. Sager or Asus is the way to go. Though the lamborghini isen't as nice as it should be. The GX series does pretty well.

They are from Taiwan.   But they do make the most powerful laptop avabile. And for only like 4.8k. Their motto though is 'Portable Power People', or some such thing.

Why would anyone waste that much money on something, that will cost 10x less in like a year or two?

Because in a like a year or two it will not be top of the line. Your paying for both show and for power. The advantage of paying more for it now, is that it will most likely last longer. i.e. that top end system will be able to play everything for about 2 years on high, and 4 years at all. If you buy it in a year or two it will go from nearly 5k to 3k, and only have 1-2 years of usability. Money is here for the sole purpose of using it, why the hell would you not use it for something you wanted?
