Actual quotes from this week:
Local News: "Safety tips for avoiding dangerous Halloween candy; tune in at Six."
There hasn't been a Halloween candy-poisoning since 1974. THAT one was perpetrated by a father on his own kids, trying to collect insurance money. Why then, do ALL local news programs crank up the fear mongering over Halloween? Because people eat it up like lemmings.
CNN teaser regarding the California fires:
"Take a breath," female anchor takes a deep, eyes-closed meditation type breath.(yuck)
"For me and you it's refreshing and easy. For people near the Californis wildfires it's something different entirely. Tune in later to "'The Dangers of Breathing', right here on CNN."
OK. Now if they REALLY cared about saving people from the "Dangers of Breathing", wouldn't it be an immediate NEWS ALERT so people could take IMMEDIATE action to save themselves?
Also, why should I care? I live on the East coast.
Disingenuous at best, and we all eat it up like hogs.
CNN also runs teasers and Bugs (like popups in the corner of the screen) about their scary "Planet in Peril" special. If CNN REALLY cared, they'd be hammering the Planet in Peril" point home all day, every day, not just have a primetime special.
The local and national/world news is not news anymore, it's no better than The Enquirer, The Star, etc.
