I am not a subscriber YET, but I just want to comment on the free .dream. First and foremost, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the free stuff. I have been an OD subscriber for many, many years now, and stuff like this always makes it worth the money. Now about the .dream...
This should absolutely be pulled until it is fixed. Period. I download and try a LOT of .dreams, and I never have problems with any of them, specifically the ones that folks complain about having a bad loop in them. I have found that 99.9% of the time, the complaining users have substandard hardware, and that is the problem. I happen to be using an nVidia 7950 GTX (PCI-X, 256 megs RAM) video card, and I never have issues with any graphic intensive programs that I use. This Halloween .dream is the first one I have ever tried that I experience a VERY pronounced loop/restart in it. Not to mention the ~2 second run-time of the .dream is a joke. If I was the author of this .dream I would actually be embarrassed to release it, the loop is so pronounced, and the run-time is too short. It just feels like a very scratched record (if you are old enough to know what a record is, hehe) skipping over and over. So, here is my suggestion/thought: This would have been one of the BEST .dreams ever (very much like Liquid Dream which absolutely blew me away) if was created as a dynamic .dream as opposed to a regular looping .dream. And the only change that would be needed is to have the bats fly around dynamically and randomly from different areas of the screen, also maybe singley instead of in a big group. All the other animation is fine.
Now, do NOT start the whole "don't use it if you don't like it" crap, because I don't want to hear it, and it is just a quick, easy excuse to dismiss the issue. Anything that is released as a Premium Suite, including the .dream, should be miles apart from the regular suites/.dreams. From the screenshots, it seems as if the WB, Icons, etc. in this Suite meet those standards, but the .dream is an embarrassment to the whole suite. And I DO understand that the .dream was released free, but since it matches the Suite, it should meet the same high standards that a Premium Suite should have applied to it before requiring money for it.
I would ask, very humbly, that the author please fix the .dream with the suggestions that I made above. The entire Suite would then, without quesion, be worth every penny of the $19.95 subscription fee, if not more. I look forward, with fingers crossed, for this fix to be made.
