currently, i attend a public school called PHS. honestly, now that its almost time to start summer and end my Junior year, i find myself starting to loathe a lot of my classes... many of them are quite pointless and dull... who wants to learn , when we all know the result of trying to pay attention is nothing more than a hardly-earned grade? For example, 15 minutes ago i was sitting in my World Geography class... Do you know what i was doing? NOT learning about world geography... let me tell you! In that specific class, weve been focusing on the governments of China (past and present) for the past 3 days.... and no new information as been taught!! So in order to keep from doing my number one favorite thing (see appropriate past blog for reference!) to do, my friend colleen and i played a word game. How long you might ask? 30 minutes. 30 FULL minutes while my teacher droned on about china. This is how its been in that class all semester long. colleen and i have PAGES of words from our games... and you would think that we have really bad grades in that class, for not paying attention. Do we? NO!!! we have A's in that class!! You know what else?? I dont even read the chapter before the day of the test... i scan the chapter at lunch for 6 minutes, max... and I get good grades in that class. am i learning anything super useful? probably not.
Why on earth would i take a class like this in the first place, you might ask. well, by sitting there and being bored to death for at least an hour, 5 days a week, i am "earning " .5 credits of social studies.... It could be worse... i could have a back-breaking amount of work to do, but DAMMIT i hate that class......
