I have a lot to say about Iraq... and most of what I have to say about it aimed at civilians who think that their opinion is the 'only' right opinion on it... I won't go there.
Did it turn out how we expected? Fuck no... does that mean we should just disappear and leave the iraqi's to themselves after what all we've done?
I've heard a lot of opinions on the subject.. I'm sorry to those 'educated' readers who might happen to stumble accross my blog, but I will by far trust the opinion of those who have been there over those judging from the states...
From what I've heard... things are working over there... admitedly SLOWLY.. but they ARE working... The recent surge has helped a LOT from what I've heard... From my brother who's currently over there, and from many other friends who are there and who just came back from there...
When I'm underway and such, I get the AFN, "Armed forces network" which shows all the positive about what's happening there... all the work that goes into helping the children and citizen's of Iraq to build a normal life... then I come back to the civilian world and on the news is all the negative stuff... such and such died, such and such died, such and such died.. over and over and over.... then maybe once out of 30 stories is one tiny positive thing... to make it look like they aren't trying to be detrimental...
I think we all need to take the media, hell everything with a grain of salt. Yes tragedies do happen there, but not as many tradgedies as there are beautiful things...
We are grown in a society though, that seems to love the tragedy more than anything good... How dare we think anything good could come out of people of our nation willingly sacraficing our lives....
Though I'm just a lowly enlisted... and maybe the opinions of those who are 'righteous' have just gotten to me...
Though I'm also just a lowly Democrat...
