I'm a big fan of Galactic Civilization (1 and 2) and when I received the invite to participate in your next strategy game with the added bonus of providing my 2 cents on game play, I couldn't pass it out.
From the get go, I know I made a good investment

For a beta game, it looks real good and looks like it's going to eat away my free hours.
I went through the tutorial and for one who played strategy games for years, it was good enough. Not sure about a newbe. Also of note, when you say to click a particular command, the button is slightly highlighted. If you could make it more obvious and/or flashing, that would be better.
At this point, I still don't know what the 'supply' value of a ship means. It's not in the tutorial. I don't know what is the benefice of having 'Fleet Support' augmented on the planet (I'm sure it's related).
In the research screen, it might be good to have the techs that haven't met the pre-requisites other then resources in red or something. Since I'm always heavy on research, it took me a while to realize that it wasn't because I wasn't advanced enough, but because I didn't have resources that I couldn't get to that tech.
I think someone already hinted at it, but at the start of the game, there is some waiting involved (not sure if it's still true later). Might be a good idea to have a speed control (very slow, slow, normal, fast, very fast type of things).
Well, that is it for now. Will start a good/real fight soon, so I'll get back to you on combat impression.
