To what game is SoaSE comparable?

I'm a big fan of space based strategy games so naturally, this one got my attention.
However, there is one thing that I'd really like to know:

To what other game can SoaSE be compared? (which one does it come close to the most)

Imperium Galactica II, Homeworld, Galactic Civilizations II or EVE Online?

It's like homeworld, meets GalCiv 2, but the GalCiv 2 part needs to be expanded a bit more.

So far it's Rise of Nations in space. Not that that was on your list, but that's pretty much it. Only on a somewhat larger (for certain aspects) scale and with only certain areas where you can fight.

I think of it as how Haegemonia: Legions of Iron should have been.

Or Supreme Commander but good.
