Headline at MSN.com today:
McCain's tragic presidential sitcom
Whoever came up with that headline hit the nail right on the head, as McCain's campaign this time around (not that previous tries were much better...) seems to be right in line to be called a comedic tragedy, well worth using as the script for a sitcom.
I asked in an earlier thread for people to list who they don't want as President and though I recall McCain's name in the list for some people that answered, it wasn't that prominent. It seems that McCain is a decent enough guy (though there were some questionable events in his past political history also...) but he just can't seem to mount a worthy campaign, or a campaign that can get over the hump, no matter how hard he tries. There's always someone there to knock him down, or worse yet, there are his own stumbles and bad political decisions (such as supporting McCain-Feingold campaign reform, or such as his support of the recent Immigration reform attempt).
