They broke it up in several parts and were holding on to my face so hard getting them out that I had a bruise in the shape of a hand on my face for awhile.
I've heard of this before. So many stories out there. This is the stuff that was scaring me half to death. He did break mine up also. He said that's how they do it. They break it and take it out in pieces. I guess so it's less cutting that way.
My poor sis had it worse though. She got dry socket and ended up passing out.
This is what I feared as well. I had dry socket with the one I took out in my 30's and the whole reason I put this off for so long. And that tooth was half up. That dry socket is no picnic. I was told today I'm past getting that now. Thank goodness!
Don't worry about the stitches. I thought that was the easiest part.
I had my stitches out today. It was a piece of cake. He is amazed at my progress. He told me today he expected I'd be on pain meds for at least 5 days. He said I was the miracle he didn't expect. In fact today when I got home from seeing him I received a letter in the mail from him. He told me to keep praying because it had to be a God thing with me because this tooth was really buried deep. Deeper than he originally thought. I should have been in much worse shape.
I thought the biggest yuck was taking the cotton packs out for the first time....yuck! I hate the tast of blood.
YES! In fact that was my biggest pain as well. When I'd go put in a fresh gauze pack it hurt bad. Similar to that dry socket feeling I had with the other tooth. It just lasted a few seconds but sharp. Of course this was all done the first day and night and there was lots of blood with this one. Deep hole-translates lots of blood I guess.
Best wishes on your recuperation.
Thanks Jill! I'm still on meds around the clock but only Advil for pain and doing very well. I am a big believer now that alot of this has to do with the right doctor. This guy I had came more than well recommended. I told him he had alot to do with my recovery. He knows his stuff well.
