I just want to let folks know that there have been some substantial changes over at the
Galactic Core. These changes are due to the changeover from phpBB based forums to Invision Power Board forums.
If this doesn't mean much to you then you're not alone. As recently as a week ago if you mentioned either of these I wouldn't have had a clue what you were talking about. The bottom line is that the layout and look of pretty much everything is different. If you're not used to it this can be a bit of a pain, but on the good side everything that was at the Core is still there, although you may have to hunt around for it a bit.
I assume that a lot of folks will be wondering "what the heck do I care about this". The answer may be that you don’t, however I do want make a couple of points just to remind folks about the Core and what may be of interest to them. With how quickly people come and go on these forums, it’s hard to know how to balance the annoying repetition of things people have heard all about versus the possibility that there are some folks that might miss out on something that could be of interest to them.
To cut to the chase, the Galactic Core is an empire neutral, GalCiv2 fan based site that aside from these forums should be the home away from home for anyone interested in GalCiv2. Certainly, I need to qualify that the Galactic Core is not in any way affiliated with Stardock and that while GalCiv2 is a major focus of interest, the Core isn’t exclusively GalCiv2 related.
To hit the high points, the Core offers to host private forums for any and all GalCiv2 Metaverse empires. There are currently 6 empires with private forums at the Core. Large or small, new or old, doesn’t matter, if your empire needs a home please consider the Galactic Core. The Galactic Core also provides hosting for Mods.
The Core hosts both the private and public forums of the Metaverse Council and the Metaverse Times. These have been moved so previously supplied links will no longer work. For reference here are links to the
Metaverse Council forums and the
Metaverse Times forums. The Metaverse Council will shortly be looking to hold elections on these forums to add another councilor. The Metaverse Times is an idea that has been percolating for awhile now, but has been delayed due to these recent changes at the Core. There’s a lot more that people should know about both of these but now is not really the time and place to go into it.
Anyway, you can post any questions that you may have here and I’ll do my best to answer them. Also, there are a few folks that have a bit more detail about these changes that may want to chime in to mention anything major that I may have forgotten or to correct anything I may be mistaken about.
