Who is the 'them' and the 'they' that I refer to in my headlines? The likes of Harry Reid and his friends in Congress that have basically tried to force us to admit defeat (though we are still not really close to being defeated) in Iraq.
Why do I say this, and why do I say that they long since gave up credibility? Because they had, long ago.
Got a short memory, and don't recognize why I say this and be right in doing so? Because these clowns told us before the war even started that we were going to see more casualties in just the first few weeks of a war than we've seen in the entireity of the war.
We were told by these defeatists that we'd be facing a massive blood bath, and would get our butts handed to us, if we went to war against Saddam Hussein and his mighty army. We would be facing thousands of fatalities in the first few weeks of the war, or at least that was what was said by some.
Now, years later, we've gotten past the point of getting daily updates on the increasing count of casualties by our service people. It got past the magical numbers, or got wiped off the news pages because there were other things to cry about, other events that needed our attention (such as Anna Nicole's baby's daddy) or things like that. Meanwhile, the numbers are not even close to what was originally forecast by the doom and gloom seers.
Please don't get me wrong, and don't think that I'm minimizing the losses. I am not. Not a single life that was lost was lost in vain. These people have served heroically, and have been serving an honorable cause, trying to help spread freedom in a place where people may not (by their actions in many cases) really deserve it, but where it is in our interests to see that democracy takes hold.
I'm terribly saddened by the numbers of losses, and by the number of wounded service people that have been affected by events in Iraq. I wish very sincerely that we were out of Iraq already, or could be out tomorrow or perhaps the next day. But, I refuse to listen to the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Murtha and others that are trying to spread their defeatist attitude, and are trying, well, god knows what short of just an absolute chicken crap loser approach to the war against terrorism, and the war in Iraq.
I guess what I'm trying to do here, now, is to remind people that some of our so-called leaders have absolutely no credibility, and don't deserve our support at all. They shouldn't be on the national stage, shouldn't be getting recognition or attention from the media or anyone else. They should be sitting down, shutting up, and letting our military leaders complete the mission they've been assigned and have been trying to carry out.
