I Hope Bush is Proud of What He Did in Iraq!

Today as we all give thanks for our great country we see the results of what George W. Bush has done by invading Iraq. I hope Bush, as he sits down for his Thanksgiving dinner, looks at what he has done. His insistence of invading Iraq has set the stage for what is the worst single attack in Iraq. In a single attack today there are150 Dead and 250 injured. In October over 3,700 Iraqi people dead and over 100 American Military were killed.

Anyone that agrees with Bush that we are winning in Iraq is on another planet. We can not stop the civil war in Iraq and it is time to leave and allow the people of Iraq to deal with this violence. The only thing our continued presence will do is cost more American lives and injuries with no impact on the killing that will take place in this civil war we have enabled to develop.

hmmmmmm.....and how many died on a single day in New York? Gee. It sucks. BUT Bitching about it won't change anything AND we wouldn't be in this position if our government had taken a hard line stance against terrorists years ago. But you dont' seem to be blaming the dems (Slick Willy) for not dealing with the issues.

150 dead and 250 injured. Am I supposed to be more angry because today terrorists were more active? Am I supposed to throw my hands up and run away because life is scary? How is this number the defining factor in politics? How does this become a magic number that suddenly proves Bush is such a horible person...I seem to remember a lot of people who pushed for this....and a lot of people who chose to support it only to get votes and then flip flop. If I wanted to get pissy than I'd have it in for them...

Freedom to be killed if they step out of their home. This war is lost. After the carnage I reported in this Blog there was a second day of the same. Now the radical Cleric al-Sader warned the Iraq Prime Minister that if he meets with Bush next Week in Jordan as planned al-Sader will pull out of the so called "Unity Government of Iraq". Now al-Maliki has to choose between Bush and the most powerful cleric in Iraq. Every day the government Bush enabled to be elected by the Iraqi People mores closer to Iran and the situation on the ground gets worse. Every person that defends this war shows their complete disregard for what is taking place in Iraq. This war is lost and it is time to bring our troops HOME! They were given an impossible job by their Commander-in-Chief and were NOT provided the level of resources to complete the job successfully. This war and the choices Bush has made will be the subject of much study in the future and will show the almost complete incompetence of Bush and his subordinates in both the decision to invade Iraq and the way this war was conducted!

You are WRONG. I am telling it like it is. I did not create the Iraq War that was Bush. The reality is we are NOT winning and it is NOT because our Military did not try. They were sent on an impossible mission with inadequate force levels. Both those choices were those of GWB and it is he who is responsible for this failure not people acknowledging the reality of what is taking place in Iraq. If we ALL acted like Bush ( and you) and refused to see what is going on in Iraq it would not change one thing. Not one less American would have died or been injured nor one less Iraqi killed. You are an example of an attempt to shift the blame from Bush where it belongs to others-- In this case "People like me". DREAM ON!

You are in denial. Deaths in hospitals due to injuries and illness have nothing in common with the way the Iraqi people are being killed every day. You are also comparing a country on 300 Million with a country of 26 million. People like you and others on this Blog site that refuse to see the situation in Iraq for what it is are the people
RESPONSIBLE for this war. You are JUST like Bush and Cheney. I am sure there are many people in Iraq dying in hospitals in addition to those that are being killed in the civil war that is taking place. It will be very interesting to see how al-Maliki chooses between meeting with Bush or doing what al-Sader has demanded!

All I see Gene is someone who accomplished a great deal while he was serving his country. Someone who made a life of service and (as far as I know) honor. I have been reading your rants (off and on) for almost two years now. I don't know you outside of your writings, but from what I've read you are now a person who wouldn't know fact or honor if it spit in your face.

Are there problems in Iraq, of course. Are people dying, yes. Have mistakes been made that cost lives, absolutely. However, you make it sound like nothing has been accomplished either. You insult every man and woman who serves there, helping to rebuild hospitals, schools and infrastructure that Hussein denied his people for so long.

So, yes, you are pathetic scum. You have traded anything you have achieved to crawl on your belly as a snake in the mud. You wear your rank to perpetuate the absolute lie that we are losing in Iraq. A lie that is laid bare by the fact that the troops fighting in Iraq are re-enlisting at record levels. The units that rotate back to the states aren't seeing massive drops in re-enlistments.

If it was as bad as you (and the worthless press) make it out, very few troops would put themselves in the position to have to go back.

First - There was no reason for this country to be in Iraq much less trying to do Nation Building. That is NOT the not the function of our military. Bush lied about the danger to our country as a pretext to invading a Moslem country with what they consider a Christian Army. Bush was warned by Powell as well as others that that would most likely result in the U S becoming stuck in a quagmire. He did not listen.

He has changed the rational for invading Iraq at least three times and not ONE of the reasons Bush gave us has proven true. Every day Iraq moves closer and closer to all out civil war and the government we help installed is moving closer to Iran who Bush tells us is another danger. Any person who can support the actions of Bush in Iraq is a TRATOR and is supportive of a WAR that has not made America safer at a cost of over 2,800 America lives, over 20,000 injuries and so far 1/2 Trillion tax dollars. Anyone that supports that does not deserve to be called an American!

The commanders on the ground know better then to ask for more troops. For one thing we do not have any more since Bush did nothing to increase the size of the military over the past six years. The senior Generals that did tell Bush what was needed were dismissed. The facts on the ground show that Bush was WRONG and our military has paid the price in American Blood because Bush WOULD NOT LISTEN.

You are the fool. What is taking place is Iraqi killing Iraqi-- This is a civil war. The foreign terrorists are a SIDE SHOW. There have been three days where the situation is out of control. The Army and police force we have spent 3 1/2 years training sat and watched the Iraqi’s killing each other.

We provided the ability for the current government to be put into place. We removed the prior Prime minister in favor of al Maliki who has proven he CAN NOT control the sectarian violence. Everything that is taking place in Iraq is taking place because we invaded that country deposed Saddam and did not prevent the sectarian violence that is destroying this country. Your TOTAL denial is just like Bush and Cheney.

Congress does not run the way this war was conducted. Once the Congress gave Bush the OK it became a Bush Show and he could not done a worse job!

WASHINGTON - President Bush is sticking to his plan to hold a summit in Jordan next week with the head of Iraq, despite threats from radical Shiites to boycott parliament if Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki goes.

At the same time, the White House on Friday deplored anew the escalating wave of violence in Iraq.

"These ruthless acts of violence are deplorable," said Deputy Press Secretary Scott Stanzel. "It is an outrage that these terrorists are targeting innocents in a brazen effort to topple a democratically elected government, and it is not going to work."

In Baghdad, followers of anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr warned they would suspend their membership in the Iraqi parliament and cabinet if al-Maliki kept his appointment with Bush in Amman on Wednesday and Thursday. That put al-Maliki in a difficult position because he needs the support of both Bush and al-Sadr.

The al-Sadr bloc in parliament and government is the backbone of al-Maliki's political support, and its withdrawal, if only temporarily, would be a severe blow to the prime minister's already shaky hold on power.

"Securing Baghdad and gaining control of the violent situation will be a priority agenda item when President Bush meets with Prime Minister al-Maliki in just a few days," Stanzel said.

A senior administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak publicly about the two leaders' meeting, said the president does not expect that al-Sadr's threat to withdraw from the Iraqi government will prompt al-Maliki to cancel his meeting with Bush.

Bush, who spent Thanksgiving at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland's Catoctin Mountains, is leaving Monday for Europe where he will attend a NATO summit before meeting with al-Maliki Tuesday and Wednesday in Amman, Jordan. Presidential advisers are keeping Bush abreast of the heightened violence in Iraq during his stay this weekend at Camp David, Md.

Shiite militiamen doused six Sunni Arabs with kerosene and burned them alive as Iraqi soldiers stood by, and killed 19 other Sunnis in attacks on their mosques Friday, taking revenge for the slaughter of at least 215 Shiites in the Sadr City slum the day before.

The mosque attacks came after the government, in a desperate attempt to avert civil war, imposed a sweeping curfew on the capital, shut down the international airport and closed the country's main outlet to the shipping lanes in the Persian Gulf.

The president has steadfastly stood behind the U.S. commitment to Iraq, even though growing public displeasure with the protracted war contributed significantly to Democrats retaking the House and Senate from the Republicans in the midterm elections.

His meeting with al-Maliki next week comes as a special high-level commission, headed by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, is mulling recommendations for possible changes in U.S. policy in Iraq. It is expected to make its findings known sometime next month.

Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Mark Ballesteros said Friday that al-Maliki's government remains steadfast despite the violence.

"The government of Iraq is intent on restoring order and maintaining security throughout Baghdad," Ballesteros said.

Defense analyst Dan Goure, with the northern Virginia-based Lexington Group, said the spiraling violence may mean that the Bush administration will have to take a hard line with al-Maliki.

"We've been trying to bring along a stable Iraqi government and that may not be possible," Goure said. Instead, he said, the U.S. may need to impose order, and "it may be that that order may have to be one that favors certain groups."

He said Bush may have to tell Maliki next week that either he suppresses the violence or the U.S. will withdraw support for him.
