The real reason why the Republicns lost these election was the Iraq war. If there is an exit from Iraq well before 2008 then there will be a contse otherwise one can be sure of a Democrat at the White House. |
I disagree with this....
the Dems that I know (my family being staunchly democrat) don't want to just simply pick up and pull out of Iraq, they want accountability and for Iraq to become stable. The administration and the Congress ran the post-war campaign, and they were not very successful.
Sure, the Iraq war was a major part of the elections....but I honestly do not believe America wants us to pull and out and run away. If congress forces that issue, then I foresee the dems not maintaining their power in 2008.
I was talking to my mom today on the phone. She said with her own mouth (and I heard my dad echoing her in the background), that they do not want to just pick up and pull out of Iraq. They both believe that that would be disastrous for our country. Instead, they want congress and the executive branch to perform their jobs better.
I still believe that the Dem victory was not so much a victory for the Dems, but rather the country demanding a change....
I say, let the dems cut defense...let them force us out of Iraq before we should leave...let them force us to go through trials and investigations and hearings....hopefully, if they do, both parties will be broken, and maybe then, some viable indy candidates can get in.
As far as corruption goes...both parties are full of corruption. The dems are full of corruption, just as much as the republicans. The reason the republicans were shown so much, they were the ones that were in power. Media bias or not, the republicans had the big fat target on their backs....
I also find it VERY interesting, that the Dems keep trying to oust gay republicans....after all, I thought it was the dems that were so for gay rights?
