Debate : is a formalized system of (usually)
logical argument. Rules governing debate allow groups and individuals to discuss and decide issues and differences.
Debate and different points of view are what keep this site interesting and lively. If everyone agreed, what would be the point of all the atta boys and patting each other on the back. I welcome a different viewpoint. I have even at times changed my mind about certain issues after reading what others had to say. |
This is the part you seem to be missing, Col does not debate. A debate would require 2 or more people to put their points across and to listen to the other point of view and maybe somewhere along the line agree with each other. As you said "I have even at times changed my mind about certain issues after reading what others had to say", but Col on the other hand wouldn't change his mind if God came down and told him he was wrong. Hell, Clinton couldn't change his mind if he told Col he was wrong. I came here for debates, Col comes here to convert you. If Col was a Cult Leader, he couldn't get anyone to give him $.75 for a soda.
So if someone doesn't agree with you then they're idiots who are wasting bandwidth. I wrote an article about the same poll yesterday but no one commented. |
No, this really only applies to Col. At least you are willing to listen and maybe even change your mind, I don't think Col even changes his underwear. You might be seeing this article a bit too broadly.
BTW, I do find that poll disturbing. Maybe not so much that they want the US troops out but when 60% say they APPROVEof attacks on U.S. troops that is extremely upsetting. I don't want our soldiers over there dying while the six out of ten people we are suposed to be helping are cheering. It's just wrong. |
I agree, still, even our boys out there would rather finish what they started rather than go home feeling like they were not good enough to get the job done. I get this from what I have heard and seen soldiers do after being injured and wanting to get patched up and go back to the field. of course this does not apply to all soldiers, just the ones I've seen and/or heard. I think that at this point we should be looking out for #1 first and forget the Iraqis for a while. they don't want us? Too bad, we already there and if they get in the way then they will be the enemy as well. JMO. Sad, but reality.
