Are you taking that kitty? It's amazingly cute.. (though I do love the darker ones).. If you do best keep good tabs on him!! Cats can be some of the best pets!! Just gotta learn they have their own personalities!

Yeah, he's my new truck buddy. The first two pics make him look darker than he really is (he was under a chair), the second two are pretty accurate on his color.

Well while you're home benedryl works but that won't work while you're driving. How allergic are you? Sneezing, hives? I hear that if you wash them often it keeps their dander down which is actually what the allergy is to.

Sneezing and hives both. So far I haven't had any reaction to him, but time will tell.

I'm thinking about the harness thing. Do they make them small enough for a little kitten? I figure the earlier I put one on the easier it will be to him to get used to it.

I got an open type litter box but got the Felin Pine litter which is long pellets instead of the sandy stuff. What concerns me here is that I have yet to see him use it but can't find any other spots he's gone on the carpet or anything. Perhaps he's just discrete as I can't imagine a kitten going this long without needing to urinate.

I've already been treated to the kitty crazies and am, at this moment trying to get him to stopp attacking my feet and shoelaces.

Buddy didn't like it at first - but he figured out it was the only way he would be allowed outside on the rope (we keep a close eye on him when hes' out).

You'll need to show him a few times, put him in there and take his front paws and make scratching motions in the litter with them. It may take a while, especially if he was in a cage without a box and had to just pee wherever. usually, their mothers teach them how to use the box.

You might also consider some way of screening off your cab to keep him in the back, unless your berth has a door already, i know some trucks do but ours just had a curtain. You don't want him getting under your gas/brake/clutch pedals at the wrong moment! If this isnt possible, invest in a strong squirt gun, put a single drop of ammonia in the water, and spray him whenever he climbs down there. The ammonia will smell like pee to him...and it's an effective training tool. Just make sure the solution is very weak or you'll hurt his eyes.


Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. The sleeper just has a curtain. As for the litter box, there was one there at the pet store and I saw him use it. Turns out it was the litter that was confusing him. While doing my shopping this morning I bought some Tidy Cat litter and put that in instead. He used it immediately.

He likes playing with my shoelaces, so until I get him trained to stay away from my feet I'll just have to wear my boots while driving.

Exposure therapy DOES work.  I think that you'll find you're ok with Socrates, but you'll react to other animals.
