My Coldwar experience

I am playing a challenging difficulty game as the Altarians and i have maximum espionage on the Drengin Empire and most likely vice versa and they are the only race left in a large galaxy ( i inialated the others) but they have a powerfull navy! and i myself also, and we are just building and building to it. i don't want to strike first and it seems they dont ever! it's crazy! there are no minor races so there is no way to trade. (well there is but it don't seem right) i have my taxes at 75% with an approval rating of 25 it is the only way i can earn more then the Drengins it seems i am going to have to go all out for a technological victory.

This is by far the most exciting game i have played on GalCiv 2 and i wanted to share my experience and find out if anyone else has anything similar! and give me advice on how to handle this!

If they are militarily superior to you, I would dig in and go for the tech victory.
However, be aware that while you're researching the techs for the tech victory, you won't be advancing in weapons tech as fast as they are, so their military power might rise much higher than yours.

To make things fun, you should try to conquer them. Make an attack plan to hit their most important planets, and the rest should fall eventually.

I agrre with the tech victory, however you should try some harrasment techniques. You may even be able to bait them into a battle where they pull resources from system defense.

agreed, even if you can only hold onto the planets for a few turns you might be able to drop their moral and their income so much they would be able to pick up the peices very easily.

even if you fail just reload the map and try something different. all else fails just build a border of military starbases and go for tech victory worked for me even though i was at war all the time. and the computer was on normal so might work for u

Here's a tip, lower taxes for awhile and let the population grow. Then when it's high, slowly raise the taxes.

Rather than lowering the taxes, you should search for the morale resources and upgrade them. If you don't have any, take out the ones that are owned by the Drengin. That'll be a huge blow to them, and if you have constructors readily available, build the starbases immediately and you'll quickly see the benefits from the morale resource.

It'll take longer, but just go for the Conquest Victory.

25 approval... wow i never go under 70.

Take out there mining bases, all of them. Each one does so much.

If you really want to hurt them, capture one of there prime planets and then strip it bare and destroy the colony. All your going for is to make them spend resources rebuilding everything.

Blitzkrieg vital mining resources, planets to tip the balance in your favour, the AI does not seem to react to u putting your forces in position for a knock out blow.
