On the road again...

Alternate title: Life comes full circle

Howdy folks...

If you would have told me that i would be where i am right now six months ago, i would have laughed in your face.

I'm back on the road.

Yep, you heard me. I accepted another "field" position. No more sleeping in my own bed seven days a week. The difference is that i am working under much better conditions this go-around. The company i now work for (Which is ironically owned by the founders of the company i previously worked for) designs and manufactures home automation equipment. Pretty cool stuff if you are a gadget geek such as myself. I get my weekends home, more money than the last gig, and more say so in my travel schedule, accomodations and travel plans... Pretty sweet deal if ya ask me!

As for my personal life... Well, it's come full circle as well. My ex girlfriend who left me and moved back to California because of my extended absences, moved back to SLC a few months ago. I think she was under the assumption that we would just pick up where we left off. Which i was not really into. (for reasons i won't go into here out of respect to her privacy) We tried it for a little while, but it just wasn't the same. The magic had been sucked out of it. Dunno why, but it just wasn't the same. And now it has kind of turned into an uncomfortable friendship. Compounding this is the fact she is roommates with MY roommates girlfriend. Meaning that i cannot go in with my life (dating other women) without the threat of the info being passed on to the ex. Which would upset her. ( she's a little emotional at times, and i care about her and don't want to hurt her).

What i don't understand here is why SHE can't just accept the fact that SHE broke up with me (fact), and that i'm not obligated to just disregard my personal feelings (if you have ever been dumped you know what i'm talking about here) and hook back up. I just don't get it.

The other day she emailed me and informed me that she had been offered a position in Atlanta, and that she would be moving there within a month. Personally i'm thrilled she found a good job. But now there is an uneasy vibe between us. Again... i dunno why. I'm happy that she is going on with her life. I really am. She deserves to be happy. So why does it feel like i'm the bad guy here? I guess it's because we have walked this path before. I'm not willing to go through the emotional trauma of watching someone i care about walk out of my life for a second time. Am i just being a moron here or what? Am i justified to feel this way? I dunno.

All i know is that i'm in Seattle with four days off, some real good friends to hang out with, and really no desire to head home and deal with all this bullshit.

(Sigh)

I need a beer.
