The birds have returned to my yard.

Hello there friends!

There is only one day left until Spring Break! Yay! I have lots of plans for my lawn. I am going to dig a garden plot, start working on putting a path from my garage to my house, and I am going to make a cement base for a flagpole. (We are going to put Japanese carp streamers -koinobori- on the flagpole. We are doing that to celebrate the Japanese Children's Day holiday.)

What comes with Spring Break? Spring time! With the arrival of Spring, we get to witness the return of the wild birds to our yard. I went outdoors this afternoon in order to photograph a few of the birds that I saw out there. (Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a shot of any robins, bluejays, or cardinals this time!)

The birds that we have seen in our yard over the past six months include: robins, mourning doves, cardinals, sparrows, red winged blackbirds, red-bellied woodpeckers, blue jays, house finches, brown thrashers, dark-eyed juncos, white breasted nuthatches, a hawk, grackles, and orioles.

This seems to be where all of the action takes place. When the birds aren't hanging around the birdbath or the bird feeder, they are up in this tree.

Here are a couple pictures of the pair of mourning doves which stay in our yard. I am happy to have them back. They are always together. What a cute couple!

I don't know what kind of bird this is, but it is an awfully good singer. Anyone recognize it?

When I came inside from looking at the birds, Mommy and baby were playing in the living room.

One last thing: I noticed that I had tied for the win in "The Best Overall and Original Blogger "category on Gem City Joe's JoeUser awards. Thanks to everyone who voted for me! I must say that I am quite surprised about this, but I am quite proud. Thank you readers! I will try hard to continue making as interesting and entertaining articles as possible.

I looked through all the pictures in my bird books. The closest picture to match looked like a Rufous-sided Towhee. They arrive in Northern North American in April. Enjoyed getting to see the bird pictures as well as baby picture. Enjoy your Spring Break. Get lots done!
