Lockup in BETA3

Ohk...

The game has worked near perfectly since I orginally got it... It would crash once every few days but it was little more than I hint that I should play less

Problem is this... I've replaced my video card (old one died) and updated to BETA3 and now within 15 seconds of the game engine starting it results in a complete lockup of the computer. (EI menu screens, and game setup works fine, but once you actually get into the game itself it crashes near instantly)

Got the newest drivers, reinstalled the game to a second harddrive, set it to use only a single HT Core of my CPU, ran it windowed, had the desktop in 16 colors, and various resolutions... Basically tried everything I could think of

Hopefully you guys have a few more thoughts.

You're video drivers for your card are severely outdated (circa 2002). You need to go here Link

and download the latest drivers. Once you update them, it should work just fine (since I use the same card ).

umm?


You mean the sound drivers, but those are the most up to date drivers for that card, and it's worked fine for versions 1.0X and beta1, and since there were no sound system changes listed in the beta notes I'm going to assume thats not the problem

That is the complete debug.err

If there was a obivous error I could most likely have fixed it myself

My guess would be that the File/Debug I/O is encounting a problem when trying to dump the debug info, which accounts somewhat for the mass for null at the end of the debug file.

OK. The reason why I asked is because the message you included looks like it can't locate some files. Did you update to a beta version between video card swapping?

If nothing else, you can always uninstall and re-install the game. That usually takes care of any anomalies in data paths, .inf files etc. I hope this helps.

Hmm the only files it can't find are files in the mods directory, as I think they've always been there, but yes I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game (and to a second harddrive)
