System Crashes and BSoD Report(s)

OK, so in a recent thread about Crashes and BSoD's someone asked me to post ALL of the info given in my next few BSoD's, so here's the frelavent info that i have posted be4:

Note: My video card is a FireGL, NOT a radeon. The drivers for FireGL are NOT the Catalyst drivers, however they are based on them. All the drivers, both video and sound, are the most uptodate versions.

Things i have tried in the past (as suggested by FrogBoy AND CariElf, as well as others) and ruled out:
CPU Overheating = No, temperture monitor has always been well below tolerance
VPU Overheating = No, temperture monitor has always been well below tolerance
PSU overload = No, Voltage monitor has always shown no fluctiations, anomolies, spikes, or overload
+12V line overdraw = No, +12V line has never gone over 12.56
FSAA Settings = No, tried at all available settings, no change in results
Other Video Settings = No, I have tried nearly all possible video setting combinations, no positive results
Sound Settings = No, Same as above
Background programs = No, all but essential system processes killed, no results
Antivirus = No, problem still occurs when Disabled and Unloaded
Firewall = No, still occurs when disabled
Hard Drive Space = No, over 20 Gb Free
Page File = No, Pagefile set at 4Gb on 6 Drives for a total of 24Gb
CPU affinity = No, problem occurs reguardless of affinity change

(and i'm sure there's other things i'm forgetting)

This is the first time i have seen BAD_POOL_CALLER, 90% of the time the error reads IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I will continue to post BSoD's as i receive them.

Surely a stupid question, but have you a way to shutdown one display?

i've tried running only on my primary display, no effect. and yess i've looked up the IRQL statement, but it hardly does me any good. Besides, GC2 is the only software that causes the problem, and i run tons of software, games included, some just as new and newer than GC2, and certainly more resource intensive, and they all run without problems. Nothing has ever given me Crashes (BSoD) like GC2 has. (not a complaint, keep in mind i love the game).

FWIW
NO _application_ should be able to cause a BSOD misbehaving apps should be trapped by the OS.

During the last year or so I have had sporadic BSODs now and then without any apparent pattern in apps/games some more then others. Sometimes several times a day and sometimes just one or two during a week.

I tested everything, different gfx drivers memtests and a bunch of other things but finally put it down to bad drivers.

BUT earlier this year they became more frequent and I finally got them nailed down to bad memory and after getting some new memory sticks I have had NO BSODs at all.

Try memtest86 to rule out bad memory, you can find it here:

There should be NO errors at all in the test.

ah yes, i left that out, already did a memory test, it's all fine. And i meant what i said when i said that GC2 is the ONLY, absolutely ONLY, 100% the ONLY thing the crashes my computer.

Some things you could check;

> the page file is corrupt; make a new one (if you don't know how just ask)
> unplug and check any / all USB cables / devices
> make sure you have no conflicting drivers (like the Audigy, there are third party drivers so you might have tried them once)
> check for conflicting software like CD/DVD burning software.

PS the "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" usually provides a driver in the BSOD message, if you could provide that it would be most usefull

You will need to follow the instruction at this MS TechNet page and run the Kernel debugger to find out what driver is causing the 0xC2 BSOD.

Also, looking at your debug log, it shows you have a 4GB page fille - yet you say you have 6 4BG page files on 6 drives? For XP, that is a wee bit of overkill. One 4gb page file should be more than enough. Perhaps the system is getting confused as to which paging file segment it is using since thay are in so many different physical locations - try eliminating all but one, make sure you physically delete the others and then defrag the drives they are on; do a full checkdsk to find any physical drive errors.

Also, if you have access to it, create a clean Virtual XP workstation and try to run the game from there to see if it still crashes. No Firewall (disabling it will not necessarily turn it off - you must also stop it's services too; to make sure it's influence is completely gone I recommend an uninstall if it is a 3rd party one. Same with AV or any anti-spyware stuff. Just disabling them may not stop all the processes they run (you cannot even see all of them sometiimes - a lot are hidden in somet cases.)

Surely unrelated, but you have 2 displays with different refresh rate. Have you tried to keep only one display?
