Sorry for my bad english.
I make, actualy, a new race. Since i don't know how add a race, the Foxies (the new race) replace the Altarian. They are more "friendly but sneaky" style, but i think that do well.
Foxies have a lot of new tech, components, invasion tactics, improvements (played by the AI, they are relatively kick-ass).
Racial techs : All the foxies techs have a [foxy] tag in their name. have a 60000 AIvalue (more is possible ?) and have the new tech "[foxy] tech line" in prerequisite.
Tech line have a 60000 AIvalue, a 60000 cost and the Foxie race have it at the beginning. And is Blue for be in the bottom of the tech board.
With a 60000 AIvalue, a Foxie AI don't likely trade them, and with a 60000 cost others races don't likely build the Tech line.
But, problems :
1° With a 60000 AIvalue for the [foxy] tech, a foxy player can maybe buy a lot of planets...
2° Other players can steal or spy theses tech.
I hope for an idea, or a future patch, with racial tech : No share, no trade, no steal, no spy possible with these tech. If it already exist, somebody can say me ?
Weapons & Armor.
Foxies have a continuated armor line after adamantium (adamantite, neutronium, and so on for a while) and a lot of "shield bonus" tech.
They have also a full line of weapons, the "Shock rocket". Basicaly, self-propelled bullet, and do dammages by sheer mass. By the law of Newton, a warp-speed iron-mass missile can do more damages than a beam or an explosive-missile.
The shock-rockets do dammages as G class / Mass-drive category.
Problem :
1° Shock-rocket are missiles, too (i use missiles fx in the game). Shaff and other beam defense can't stop them because a shock-rocket is, you now, a big bullet : You can't stop a big bullet with a little bullet or a beam.
But ECM, i think, can affect the computer, com-system or navigationnal system of the rocket.
I don't know how to add a component that can add a bonus at the defense against missiles AND shock-rockets but NO mas-driver. I't possible ?
I don't do core ships for Foxies. i don't think core ship are used by AI, and they don't be used by player i think (can't be updated, for the first part).
But i like the idea of foxies hulls.
I have the idea of doing a ship with the in-game editor (altarian-based), save it, and use it as hull for the Foxies.
Problem :
1° Don't know how. Don't know if it's even possible...
That all for the moment, folk's. But if you want a little thing of foxies (for the moment, they have just the first level in new techs).
- [Weapons] Two new lines :
Shock-rocket (use missile theory but damage the armor. Each missile need an engine tech as prerequisite, too : For a self-propelled bullet, more speed = more damage) ;
Reality gun (desintegrator ray. End-game tech. uber-powerfull but really, really heavy) ;
- [Defenses]
Pulser (New line. Very costly but really powerfull laser-type defense against missiles) ;
Continuated armor line ; Adamantite, Neutronium, Handwavium, and so on ;
- [culture]
Lot of planet improvement and base modules.
=> Foxies are sneaky, cutes, and really want to have what you have. They like subvert you (for you own good, you know. And because it's less dangerous, too). For the level, imagine USA not with crap as MacDonald, reality-tv or ID4-level movies, but with "top" products. Frightening, no ?
- [Moral]
Few (three, in fact, but one is civilization sized) improvments,
=> Foxies are anarchist, then they need more moral improvment than us, because they don't like working (each research/manufacture improvement => moral malus. Untested yet).
- [System Defense]
Two.
=> Foxies are predator, but not really the big and heavy type. They have two defense more the standard because they are the "middle" type predator, and because their "culture invasion" style can do an ennemie attack.
- [Research]
Four (maybe five) improvements, lot of tech-bonus.
=> Foxies are canids. Canids are the most curious animals on earth (more than us, biologists say). They LOVE to know what you have, what you know... and's what next in the serch tree
- [Diplomatic]
One improvement (Planetary knowledge Exchange. One by planet) and a few bonus-tech.
=> A good diplomat is, in first, a good thief. You don't know that ? Foxies BELIEVE in that.
- [Manufacturing]
Only one, at the end of the tech line (orbital robotic plant). Working is not for real Foxies.
- [Farm]
Two : a planet sized (Sea utilization) and a "end of the tech line" (orbital farm).
- [Bank]
One, the Steal bankinq School. A planet sized improvement.
- [Miniaturization]
Five more, but untested yet.
- [Logistic]
Three more, but Foxies begin with only 1 in Logistic.
I have another race on the box : The Karnach. Replace Drengin. Think at a Dinosaure-alien child under Hallucinogen. With real jaw, not the pitifull things of tyrannids/zergs.
Karnach have a lot of fun techs for ground combat, no more weapons but uber-ship defenses, big industrial sector, free "culture resistance" improvements (Karnach want you only as dinner). Totaly untested.
