Fast Forward Fifty Minutes

good to be home, good to be groovin'...

Both Kole and I took the day off work and school; she's sick, I'm looking after her. We stayed at my parents' place though, because Skylar was home for the day as well, and my sister was trying to write a paper.

In fifty minutes, I expect to be doing the homebody thing, and I'm looking forward to it. I don't know if I'm making hamburgers, or a baked fish dish, but either meal will involved some slicing and dicing, and some preparations with the Wolf on loud. Link As much as I bitch about it, nothing really beats hometown radio. I don't know if its that I'm getting older, but I just like 70s and 80s rock. The Wolf plays newer stuff too, but none of that phunked up crazy beat that I definitely have to be in the mood for. A little AC/DC, some Rush, and some Deep Purple. I used to listen to this stuff at gunpoint, but now it's simply relaxing.

I like listening to the radio in three places. The kitchen has the best stereo that I own in it, and it's always cranked while I do mundane things like cook, do the dishes, or eat. If I have to work at deplorable, soul-sucking everyday shit, I might as well keep myself entertained. The shower is the second best place to listen to music. I may not be the neatest person with a 2 bedroom apartment, but I like to keep clean under a steamy jet spray. It wakes me up in the morning, gets me ready for bed at night. No shit, I'd shower three times a day if I could get inspired enough to go for a daily jog. I have a little tiny tinny radio. It's black, and has big Stones lips that move. It's all treble, and if you move around too much in my 1 square foot bathroom, you lose the station, but we always get the Wolf there, at least. Lastly, is listening to music in bed. I'm not much for falling asleep with it on, but I always have it on for about an hour every morning, to get the latest news and weather, but moreso for the classic tunes. It's at this time where I hear a lot of funky stuff going down, and I'm surprised that I know most of the words and melodies.

I'm a child of the seventies, man. No wonder I'm getting off on this shit now.

Fifty minutes, and Kole and I will be home. A little music, a little food, some general tidying up and then a little reading before bed. This is the good life, for all that I bitch about, sometimes.

One of my favorite things to do is listen to music while cooking--it gives me a "homey" feeling.

Hope you and Kole have a great night (and that Kole gets better ASAP).

I too love listening to the radio. I enjoy listening to new music shows, even though I'm a child of 60's. There is so much good new music hidden amongst all the crap, it does take some listening to catch it.
