I'm thinking this one hasn't been done yet, but I could be wrong (it's been known to happen every now and then {smile})....
After finally (yay!) winning a game last nite/this afternoon (whew!, long game, but quite fun), and making my way through the game a bit, I'm now thinking that the time that was involved to get a decent way through and into the game may yet kill what could be many hours of enjoyment playing through some games.
What I would suggest is some sort of scenario generator that would take the same sort of variables used to start a game and then randomizes a host of events in a simulated game so that some, many, or most of the habitable worlds are already claimed, some, much, etc., of the tech tree is already somewhat filled in, etc. Enough to mean that someone that starts such a game is already finding themselves quite busy repairing damage that might have already been done, or wreaking new havoc with the ships and tech that are already out there waiting to be used to conquer some opposition.
Sort of the 'quick rules Monopoly' board game style quick start that could be used to jump into a game quickly, and not have to go through many of the hours that get you started up.
