Battle of the Gods mode question

I got bored of all the AI tech selling/trading hassle and wanted more combat, so I only play the BoG mode now, as the Terrans.
With all the techs available, why is the AI still building technological capitals, and hyperion research centers?
Also, when I try to counter a single AI ships with 200 beam attack, and 150 shields, and build a ship comparable to this I can't. And this is with a Hyperion Shrinker available.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought BoG mode was all techs available for ALL races?

bumpity-bump. Sorry, my xbox game that was mailed 03/06/06 didn't come today(Gamefly, u SUCK!!), so I'm playing GC2 today. Need an answer ASAP please. Saw someone put "(Free Beer)" in his post to get attention. Maybe I should try that.

With all the success of the game and the forums getting crowded, I hope Stardock gets some more bandwidth.
