+5 to advantage factor is not too much for air superiority?

Anyone feel that invasions are a bit overpowwered due to air superiority advantage?+5 to advantage factor in my opinion is a bit too much because if u add special tactic invasion invader could have really a great advantage also if has worst soldiering.Using mass drivers is very powerful at the beginning of a game because u have every time a minimum advantage factor of 10-15 in the worst cases.So isn't better if air superiority advantage factor could be toned down to +3 or +4 ?

I have a really hard time with invasions as is, and mass driver ruins the planet even though it helps win it. If I want to capture a planet intact it usually costs me a pretty good chunk of my population and I think it is pretty well balanced as is.

why dont you send 2 carriers instead of 2 one with 500 troops and the other with 1000 +/-, and use mass drivers with 1st one to tone down enemy's defenses,since no damage is done to the planet UNLESS it is captured, and them finish him off with second carrier. Dunno bout you but it works out great for me.

Let's say that you were invaded and the enemy used mass drivers and failed. So even though you defeated the invasion your planet is up to 40% (can't remember exactly) destroyed anyways. This means even a failed invasion will hurt you significantly. Think about using tidal disruptors and failing thereby destroying all of your buildings anyways. THAT doesn't seem fair.

Well, seeing how the mass drivers and tidal disruptions failed, it would only be logical to assume that the defenders managed to protect their resources....It seems like a fairly realistic tactic to me. Make some kind of gigantimus distraction, have them spend all their resources on it, and then pound them with normal troops.

cheesy if you ask me. If your fleets cant keep space superiority and the invaders use mass drivers the first time, the effects should last even if the invasion fails. what bugs me is how a planet can have 1 billion soldiers duke it out and the next turn start churning out production again, and have approval that is normal. Shouldnt that planet be war torn and recovering before resuming normal every day life?

The approval is usually much higher, because live people decreases planetary morale. For some reason, billions of rotting corpses don't seem to reduce it... free food, maybe?

About it frogboy said that it was cheesy but it was better than using mass driver with only 1 troop on the troop transport and lowering the PQ of a planet. About it i totally agree with him.What in my opinion should be done is at least strenghten a bit soldiering ability which is very weak for now. I have managed to wipe out entire planets with soldiering a lot lower than my defender because i used special tactic invasions.remember that with air superiority and mass driver u will ever get at least an advantage factor of 10-15 and if u add also soldiering bonus due to planetary invasions tech also the drengin troops which have a +25 soldiering are cannon fodder when they are the defenders.I have calculated that when there is a same level of soldiering between a defender and an invader always the invader has an advantage factor of nearly 6-7 times greater, and the defender always has more troops so if u also lose one planetary invasion u have at least destroyed a population 6-7 times greater than the number of soldiers u used.Clearly it is an average but the advantage for invaders is uncomparable to that of the defender

The invader's advantage isn't unreasonable at all. An undefended planet would be incredibly vulnerable to attacks from orbit.

I do rather wish that mass drivers and such damaged the planet regardless of the success of the invasion. It would make for some interesting strategy, I think.
