RED (Severe, gameplay issues, or serious issues)
Crash to Desktop Error when loading some saved games. Inspecting saves shows they have 0KB and are invalid.
Duplicatable CTD by doing the following;
New Game
Custom Worlds, Corners Map
Select Very Fast Resources
Select Human as your race.
Select ALL other races
Bug that doesn’t allow you to form fleets despite meeting all criteria, and it seems to corrupt the entire game. At times, it LOOKS like it made a fleet, but there is "Empty" space where it says there is the fleet, and your ships are off to the side separate.
No diagonal scrolling when you move your pointer to the CORNERS of the screen. However vertical and horizontal work fine as long as you don't have the planet/ship list up - which disables left horizontal as noted in another line.
Movement indicators are sometimes left on the map and do not clear once the ships move to those locations. My last map had 40 of them.
After a map is fully explored, if you double click on a ship and tell it to "Auto Explore" or "Survey" it does nothing, but once you close it out, you will see the dialog saying the ship can find no unexplored areas. If you click autoexplore a few times before this, then you will have several of the same dialogs overlapping each other.
Ship "Save" in the custom ship builder sometimes fails, and requires the clearing of the entire ship to reset. No dialogs or warnings about why this happens. We’ve had this happen 5-6 times today.
If you save game, load game it resets your turn, so in theory, you could win a game without even using a single turn.
There seems to be a bug with racial abilities in setup not appearing or not being selectable. (especially relating to custom races)
Software mouse pointer seems to randomly disappear on some occasions, not really that common, but it does happen. Even on my machine.
YELLOW (Medium, annoyances that can effect enjoyment or games)
Several misaligned hard-points on ships.
When "Hints" come up, they need to PAUSE before you finish and move on. My PC loads shit so fast, the Hints stay on the screen for a mere 1-2 SECONDS. So fast, I've yet been able to READ any of them!
When the planet/ship list is up, you cannot edge-scroll to the left side of the screen, but you can up and down or to the right.
When setting options, sometimes you can't "Grab" the sliders for them. For some reason the grab areas around them seem to disappear, I have to exit out and come back in. Wierd. (hardware cursor doesn't help)
Tooltips on the main interface seem to not come up unless I "Scrub" my mouse over the button constantly.
No "Restore Default" setting for options.. I jacked around with mine and was pretty dismayed to not see a way to restore them to default.
Nebula and Star Density Sliders seem to not take effect unless you quit a game and start a new one. Sometimes they don’t even take effect then!
GREEN (Low, oversights in design, or otherwise small issues)
Options should default to "Full Battles", most people are expecting full animated battles, and seem to be disappointed and not realise there is an option for this.
When you "Load" a game, you should be able to double-click on a save and load it, rather than click on it, then go down and select load.
The checkbox for "Fullscreen" tutorials is in a whacked location. (see below)

When you check the "Details" for earth, there is a typo. (see below)

There needs to be an option to "Re-center" the camera.. Horizontal Axis has a "Snap Back" option, but Vertical and Zoom do not.
If you click "Create Account" on the GalCiv2 forums screen, it sends you to an invalid page with an ASP error.
The list of machines I’m testing/playing this on are as follows;
All machines have Windows XP Pro SP2 installed and updated. All have updated Bios and Drivers. The 6800GS-OC machines are running 82.12 Beta drivers for Nvidia – the only ones that support the new 6800GS cards. The other machines are running 81.98 drivers – the latest WHQL certified. All sound drivers are up to date, and all machines are on clean "Gamer Boots" without needless stuff. Antivirus software is set to "Disabled" when gaming by default, and doesn’t monitor the gaming folders or game executables. All machines have 19" Acer AL1912 LCD Monitors, and have the ability to pipe directly to a 30Inch HDTV on the wall for testing.
