A nice message

Hi this is my first post on here but I have been reading everyones comments for a few months now and I played gal civ 1 when it came out.

I didn't take part in the beta as I didn't wish to spoil seeing the perfected final product

Heres my point.....

I think in the last few years I have not been excited about any game release, which is a bit sad really; it seems all companies just make a game as if its a hamburger, bit of cheap beef, a pea sized dollop of red goo and those green things that taste like something that died. My point is they don't seem to care much about their creation...they don't seem very excited....so why should I be?

But going back to a few monthes ago when progress on gal civ 2 was coming close to completion I started checking on the site every few days to see what was going on. Now heres the thing; everytime I came the developers seemed to have posted something interesting be it some lovely screenies or a bit of story. As time went on more and more was posted...journal entries....game examples....reams of background info....

It was then I realised that I was actually excited about this game and the reason was simply because everything I saw made me realize how excited the developers were about it!

I have never seen anything quite like the development team behind this; everything about this release seems to be qute unique. Not sticking copy protection for example is staggering in this day and age...but it tells me they have an enormous respect for the fans.

So heres a pat on the back from one fan of gal civ!!!!

I am sure it will do great!

This is my first post on here too, and i just wanted to add that I completely agree with funkman. I never played GalCiv I (though I did hear good things about it), and just happened to come to this site after clicking on a link from another site a while ago. After reading a couple of the journal entries, I started to get interested... really interested... and I kept coming back and reading more, and more... to the point where I now check the site every day for any new screenshots or background story. This is honestly the first game I've ever pre-ordered. And I just finished the pre-load that went by smooth, with absolutely no fuss.
So, really, great job to the people at Stardock. I am amazed at the level of commitment you show your customers here. Your obvious passion for your game is infectious.

I completely agree! I would have never done a pre-order before - it just didn't make sense to me - but I wanted to reward the developers for their hard work so I paid early for this game. I am genuinely excited about his game. I hate to say great job before I have even played the game but it almost feels like it can't possibly be a bad game... There must be something wrong with me... Keep up the good work!

Mark me down in the first time pre-buy column as well.
Stardock is what all game companies should strive for.
If there was a Game Olympics, Stardock would win Gold in every event heh.

Excited here as well! Just after buying Civ 4 I stumbled upon this website. I never played the first, but just reading the journal entries here about Gal Civ 2, I preordered it without a second thought. I've just had to resist hibernating for the last two weeks until the game arrives on my doorstep.

I didn't order it directly from Stardock, though. Had I known of the preloading, I would have.

Still can't wait! Counting down the days...

This is my first post here too. I bought GalCiv when it first came out and have been lurking in the forum for the past three or so months. I just preordered and the download went smooth. So yeah great job Stardock...can't wait for the 21st

Bump as it were and ditto.

Although I'm not sure why (I usually don't gopher space strat) I bought GC way back when and had a fun time with it.

Miffed that I have since lost my disk. Thanks to Gmail and Stardock I can feel fairly assured that I will never have to worry about keeping track of a GCII disk.

DAMN YOU ADHD...damn YOU!!!

P.S. on that note the reason I had a hard time with GC was I would lose interest in the 4+ hour games and start trying to avoid micromanagement. I think the attempt to get away from that and the intermitent space battle 'movies' will hold my attention better for decent strategy. Going to see if being highly defensive will be more viable in GCII

And thanks again guys for sharing a bit of your world with us. Feels honest...which I bet more developers could be with their audience.

Yeah, I purchased the download preorder tonight as well! (And yes I'm downloading the game right now.) And well.. I figured, if I put the money directly into their pockets, with no middle man getting in their way of collecting the $44.95 and none of it going to some jerk salesperson who has the audacity to give me grief about this or that game. Scrag em. And it also get's us away from evil evil publishing companies who ride the backs of creative works.. well..

I figured.. this way, it puts the money directly into the companies pockets. And it wasn't like $8 for one transaction. It was the full $44.95.. thus making me tell them I REALLY like their potential direction, alot!

Just wish they were located in a more reasonable state. (Minnesota..)

Not my first pre-order, but definitely my first pre-load, and definitely the first time in a long time I've been staring at the calander waiting for a release date to hit. I am jonsing hard for this game!

I'm really not exactly sure what that means..... but if jazzed is a good thing... they deserve to be!!

Watching the Stardock team's excited and thoroughly transparent write-ups on the games' development over the last couple of months together with their approach to copy-protection, and just generally with their good old fashioned sense of actually working for the customer rather than treating him like an ATM, an imbecile or a Pirate, has been a real breath of fresh air in a market that has become more and more cynical and self-serving over the years. I don't think I have ever seen a developer so interactive with their fan community!

I can't say enough good things about my experience here to date and I am also really excited about playing this game next week. Excited in a way I havent felt for a computer game in what feels like eons!

Always good to hear from new faces as well as hear from those we remember from days gone bye.....

I have been in on the beta testing from the start and can tell you that even now i am still excited about the launch of the game!! My enthusiasm for the sequal to the great Calactic Civilizations has never wavered from the time i first read of the planned new game, right up to now

Stardock, Brad and his team are a fantastic group of people who care just as much for the little people as for anyone else in the industry. You have a problem and any one of a number of people will always gladly help you, and this is something the major manufacturers should look at and mimic as it leads to happy gamers who are more likely to spend more time and money with that company.

My thanks as a GC1 vet. and a beta tester for GC2 to all the hard work behind the scenes that the Stardock crew have done to make this site and the new game into something that will appeal to all and keep us coming back for more and more. Also a great thanks for keeping us all informed throughout the entire progress of the new game with your informative journals and forum entries.

Congrats guys may the GC2 game run like a dream for you
