First, I loved GAL CIV 1 and am looking forward eagerly to GAL CIV 2. I spent many, many pleasurable hours with the first. I figure it cost me less than a penny an hour when comparing the cost of the game with the hours I played it (I didn't really keep record).
But I did eventually stop playing it. I found that trying to get my score higher on metaverse (I got up to 32nd place) involved employing less than fun strategy during play, such as "rerolling" galaxy set ups and employing in-game strategies that would bring the game to a quicker ending (if it didn't work, then reroll and start again as opposed to go ahead and try to win at a slower, but more fun, pace.
It was really my fault. No one forced me at gun point to play that way. And it was a thrill to post my win on metaverse, but game play itself suffered. It was a lot more fun before I started trying to improve my metaverse standing. I am just going to enjoy GAL 2 for the gameplay itself. I'll still post to metaverse, but I won't be a competitor there this time. GAL CIV 2 looks too good not to just sit back and enjoy it.
